Hey Guys,
So I bought a new Painless wiring kit and tore out all the old wiring in my 63 Sport Fury. I am wondering if the new harness eliminates some of the old stuff that was in there before such as ballast resistors, voltage regulator etc? I put in MSD ready-to-run ignition also. No other changes.

Thanks,
Jesse

Ok so looks like the ready to run is 12 volt system so no ballast resistor. sound right?...next up, voltage regulator

Correct about the MSD, no ballast resistor. You will not need a voltage regulator only if you are going to a 1 wire (internally regulated) alternator. Otherwise you will still need the voltage regulator.

I wish you all the luck with the Pain in the ***/Painless wiring harnesses. I went with the Year One replacement harness and it was a complete plug and play. Pricy? Yes. But worth it IMHFO. Painless doesn't utilize the same MOPAR colors as others do. Just be prepared for some frustrations to pop up as it will with the harness you now have. DAMHIK but I do. But we are here to help so keep us in the loop on your re-wire project...cr8crshr/Tuck

My mistake it was actually an EZ Wiring harness. That any better? Doubt it....I'm sure it will be a PITA. I'm curious as to whether the color coding actually matters at this point? I have removed all original wiring. The new harness is labeled every 5". Does it matter that my colors are different now? The only wires left are in the steering column and the install instructions have a diagram of how to match the wires (Mopar pink to EZ wire blue etc.) Fingers crossed it all works out.
