So had dropped my max wedge heads off at a shop to be redone and stopped by to check out. My machinist asked me if I was putting them back on a 413. Said I had a 440 bottom end I was using, he then told me he had a few 413, 440 blocks he bought as a package deal and he'd sell me a 413 of wanted. Told him if I could find a '62 dated one id consider just to have. He then took me to area where he had a bunch of blocks stored and we started looking around, well the second engine he moved caught my eye. Did I just spy a notched cylinder???! Said hey can I look at that one? Pulled it out and WOW!!!! I was staring straight at a pad stamped on big font 413 HP 6-7-62. Bores are notched and block is amazing. Has a casting date of 3/30/62 and casting # 1852029. A genuine 413 11.1 max wedge block.
I held in my excitement and asked if it were for sale and recieved a yes. He said make me an offer, I said well I don't know condition so let me think, he countered with that when he got all the blocks in deal he tanked and magnafluxed all of them and it was in great shape, he also pulled a note off of block ear and said yeah it had checked out fine and was standard bore and he had cleaned it up 10 thousands.
Block has all its main caps and came home with me for almost free.
