Not trying to start a whole debate about global warming, but I read that global warming has weakened the jet stream that runs across North America. Due to this, it is more prone to being pushed around, leading to periodic dips into the lower part of America where is usually does not go.
Not sure if that is accurate, but if it is, then our sporadic cold *** temperatures ARE from global warming!
I randomly selected a couple of States known for their extreme temperatures and did a "record high heat" search. It looks like 1936 was the "record high" in Oklahoma @ 113 degrees fahrenheit. With "global warming", one would think that there would be no "record high" temperatures in any State that hasn't been exceeded since the year 2000. I also did it for Alaska and the "record high" was in 1915. I wonder what they were attributing the "record heats" for back then?
Oklahoma City, OK - August 11, 1936 - 113°
Fort Yukon, ALaska - June 27, 1915 - 100 °
