Whats the best Head Gasket, Stock Engine. I usually just do the Fel Pro thing, but I wondering if I could find a thinner Gasket accomplishing the same thing.

Thanks Ill look into it

A while back I bought some MP steel gaskets from the Dodge dealership, that are .015 inch.

For what it is worth: The Fel-pro perm-a-torq's, while nice, dropped the compression a bit too much for my liking since I have the open chambered 452 heads. So I went with the Mopar Performance steel shim head gaskets which compress down to .020. Got them from Summit, coated them with some copper spray and put them on. Only adviso I'd say is that you'll want to re-torq the head bolts after about a 1000 miles or several heat cycles. I've heard of people not doing such and being fine but I had to drop the headers anyway due to exhaust leaks so I just retorqed them. Still running like a champ.

Thanks the whole issue is, I built my 383 back mostly stock. I looked at the original head gaskets on the bird and they appeared to be pretty thin, what i believed to be factory originals most likely. Knowing that a set of Fel Pros would be significantly thicker. I'm trying to squeeze out a bit more compression out of what I built. I'm going to look at both of those products and see whats reasonable. Thanks

No Problems?

Actually I haven't used them yet but plan to in the near future. I don't expect any issues. They're just like the originals that came on our 383's and 440's back in the day. Just a little thinner.

I would suggest using something like "Permatex Copper Spray-A-gasket Hi-temp sealant" on them before installing.
I will do that, question I am a 340 Guy, first big block in my lifetime so, i was looking at intake gasket kits, MP has one without the end gaskets, I didnt see a kit with those in it by them, are we just using the RTV sealant on the front and ends, 'Im using the original intake.

The Mopar big blocks don't have intake end gaskets. The metal pan is the intake gasket.

tHATS WHAT i MEAN dUMB TO bIG bLOCKS lol

You don't sound dumb to me. It's just that there is a learning curve we all go through. At least you're asking questions in an attempt to do the job right. In my opinion helping one another is what this forum is about.
