Hey Joey

I guess you didn't read posts #6, 8, 12 or you can't read otherwise you wouldn't have made this comment!

I even had my tech advisor look -- he also has no idea.

If you click it, what happens?

not to butt in but...

sounds like something in win 10 got "added" or turned back on.

Win10 is famous for re enabling things as updates are installed.

That is currently driving IT folks like myself crazy.

THANKS, microsoft.

The settings button will take me to the Settings/notification page to pop the switch to turn it on, I just X out and close the window. Like I said it just gets frustrating having it happen all the time. You'd think after a few times your computer would get the message and stop sending notices, but noooooooooo! I've also noticed that I'm getting a crapload of spam mail in my spam folder since update 1803. I hate it that Windows just keep crammin this crap down your throat's, and trying to control MY computer to the WAY THEY want it to run with their controls. Not going to happen as long as I'm on the keyboard! It's just wrong, been that way ever since Gates crammed Windows 10 on us. I've had problems ever since!
If I could get to his ***, I'd kick his *** myself!

After every freakin update, I have to go in and re-set everything the way I WANT IT, not them! Bastards!

Are you using Chrome, Firefox or Edge browser?
Edge.

Check your cookies settings. You might not allowing any cookies, therefore your computer isn't remembering your actions

Been using it for years, never a problem till now, please tell why.

First of all, edge was released 2 years ago I think.
Second, most people in IT think EDGE sucks. I myself use IE and Chrome (mostly chrome)

Okay then, I'll bite. Why me and not you in Edge?

Most likely, some setting in Windows. I'm not an expert in windows.

Could be possible. Could also be that you keep clearing your cookies.

I would suggest you install and run this https://www.ccleaner.com/ including cleaning your registry.

It's windows 10 my wife's lap top does that crap it tries to help me out thinking I would like to do something so it will suggest it. I quit using that thing . I use my old lap top or my smart phone .

The computers are a bit to smart it gets you hooked with something then you keep clicking and then you end up in some random site and god knows what is going on in your computer at this point.

I just deployed 8 new win10 machines at work.

It took three days of scouring the web to find out how to get rid of all the junkware/bloatware/crapware and keep it off, specificaly four instances of xbox crap and the "get office" trial which confuses the hell out of users since we own office and install that version.

There are literally dozens of lines of powershell code, some 50 characters long that need to be run, and you need to run a separate script each for "the current user", "existing users", and "future users not created yet"....for every single crapware app, then do other things to remove the tiles and "pins".

Still some things can only be done to a given user profile while logged in as that user, and some of those will still trigger a reinstall of crapware.

...and the only way to stop edge from being the default browser for each profile is to completely uninstall (and unprovision) edge.

THANKS, microsoft!
