I am currently having a 69 charger restored and It is ready to be painted. I have always wanted a General Lee and would very much like to have one built, but I live in a City that leans to the left and go to a Progressive School and given that I am still young(21), me and my charger will be around for a long time. I plan on driving it every chance I get but I am concerned with having the flag on the roof especially in today's every increasing Political Correctness movement. should I have the General built, or should I go for the stock scheme of Hemi Orange with a Black vinyl top? I don't want to be afraid to park my General and get lunch and come back to see key marks on the roof every time I take it out If the Future PC movement is going the way everyone says they are.

Yeah, there is enough clones/tributes out there. I'm all about heritage, not hate, but 2nd gen Chargers are popular enough.
I'm a fan of the restored look with a blindingly fast motor.

I saw a really well done Lee on Sunday. You are wise to be aware of the PC. I would not drive a Lee into my workplace for concern of damage or some other type of retaliation.

Tough question, If you want one paint it that way. What ever makes YOU happy and dont take **** from no one. Semper Fi.

I have a tough time thinking anyone would actually take offense to a Dukes type of Charger, but you never know. I would suggest something else because with the Dukes of Hazzard, you are limited to what those General Lee's look like. If you skip the General Lee theme, you can paint and equip the car any number of ways. Make it your Charger.
Jus' sayin'

You want PC ? Come to Eugene OR. Yesterday before my car broke down I was at a corner making a turn by a bunch of protesters for Green Energy. So I waited for the light to turn Green, put on my turn signal and lit the tires up getting sideways in front of them. Car breaking down bad Karma?? No just a bad battery cable. DILLIGAF.

I'm all for building your car exactly the way you want but given your location??? People are idiots these days and a confederate flag may be all the excuse some idiot needs to trash your car so it's a tough call. Me personally, I love the General Lee but don't like seeing everybody copying the same thing over and over again but rather see their own personal touch. Make it your own

IMHO......A nice looking factory color......Chargers in any color draw tons of attention in a positive way.......you just haven't experienced that yet. You may change your view on the GL scheme after that.....

In the end it is your car and you have to do what makes you happy....

Mine was PP1 Red. I plan on going red...maybe not the factory color but staying in the same zone.

you can be the first to sport a "President Trump" with an American flag on the roof...……. that oughtta trigger the tards

Here are a couple pics of my buddies 69 with a day 2 restoration. 440 4-spd car. Get's lot of compliments and has won a few plaques with it. I grew up watching Dukes of Hazard and love the General Lee but I personally wouldn't want to have one, just too many of them around. The hemi orange and black vinyl would look sweet in my opinion. Good luck with it.

The only complaints about the General having the flag that I've heard of has been from WB itself. Everyone else either thinks it's cool, or just complains that there are too many of them.

If you want it, make it a GL. You can always cover the flag up with a vinyl top afterwards when you're done having your fun, or do start getting negative feedback, if anyone is that darn particular.

On another note, one member @dc.com has a orange charger, black top, then ghosted the 01 on the door, plus has the wheels and pushbar. Food for thought

what is a Day 2 Restoration? i have never heard of that before?
Us old guys use that term. Many who bought the cars new would change wheels and make some performance modifications. Cool valve covers, maybe strap a tach to the steering column with a rusty hose clamp. Stuff like that. Refer to it now as " day 2". The Red beauty above is a perfect example.

I agree with above. Make it your own. It’s good to have the other side on your mind due to future problems with them if you go General Lee scheme. I will also say lots of generals out there too, not sure I’d do one only because of that. However, as I said, it’s yours make it how you want!
Good luck!

The charger in #13 - very nice!

I like not caring what others think. But we all have to care for our own. So I personally would not put my family riding with me in a position to become the center of a situation caused by someone looking to make nothing into something. I like the American flag suggestion above. Can't say I have seen that.

You need to check out the flag on @747mopar Chargers hood, it's sweet. Something like that could be cool too.
