I have a very nice complete 8 3/4 housing with a recently rebuilt 489 case with 3.91 gears, Suregrip, OEM axels with green bearings with excellent large drum brakes attached with stainless brake lines. I am looking to sell and not sure what I should be asking for the setup. Appreciate any assistance establishing a selling price.
Thanks

Do you know what year it is out of ? Early or late will make a difference. Top of the head estimate can be around $1200- $1500 or more. Just for reference I bought one 3.23 SG axles/brakes complete for $600 a few years ago from a 65 Belvedere. To me it was a smokin' deal.

Have you driven it for any length of time? Gears broken in if they're new? I'll agree w Darter6, around $1200. or so as an assembly.

The body that it fits will also dictate the value.

yes, it has been driven for about a couple of100 miles. It is an earlier housing, not sure of year. I can measure if that would help?
thanks

When you're selling something it's good to know the actual application so potential buyers know what you have.

Since complete rear ends are a hassle to ship, you'll most likely be dealing with locals and some rear ends will be more in demand in certain geographic areas.

I have someone who is interested. It came out of my 65 Belvedere II and I know it is not original, but did fit. The potential buyer also has a 65 Belvedere II. Just needed to see what I might ask for it.
Thanks

Add up the sum of the parts and go from there. If it's had a bunch of miles put on it since rebuild, getting premium price won't be so easy. Is it nice and clean or getting dirty. Even one with a lot of miles but clean will sell easier. I sold an empty housing with axles, no brakes for 250 several years ago but no one wants a complete one lately. I'd say 1200 aint' a bad deal for a complete unit ready to bolt in and run.

Thanks. It is a very nice and clean housing with very low mileage.
