Hey guy's, Has anyone ever experience a leak using these Edelbrock Heat insulator gaskets. I have never had a lot of confidence in these working on all types of manifolds why I have even sprayed WD-40 on both sides so they would not stick to the manifold or bottom of carburetor. You all put them on without spraying them? Maybe that's the reason they never sealed up for me because I do spray them. Probably just my bad luck I have had with cars for 40 years! Opinions Please! Thanks, Dave

i use them. I spray them with silicone before use. never had an issue.

Spray WD-40 on a gasket before use so it doesn’t stick to the intake or carb?

Well that’s a good way of doing things. Here is another, grease or spray WD-40 on the rotors so the pads don’t squeak.

Never sprayed them myself,YMMV. The best insulator I ever tried was the Holley(?) with the aluminum spacer in middle of gasket. It extended about 2-3” past front&rear of carb.

Carb-to-intake gaskets are the only ones I've ever had NOT stick! I never sprayed or used any sealer on those. I've found the only thing that helps with heat any, is a phenolic (or not metallic) spacer.

I’m guessing that there carbs come on and off like socks?

So they stick? So what?!?!

A gasket scraper is to much money and/or effort?

I’m missing something here!
LMAO!!!!

Whoa on the wd40 guys! Its good for locks and starting a diesel engine but that's about it! It will remove any protective coating on metal and corrosion will begin. I've just installed the Edelbrock heat insulator dry. Still not good, fuel still heats up causing flooding, wide open throttle bogs after a few stops in hot weather, I just installed an Avs2 with it and not impressed. Aluminum is the quickest heat absorber, so don't go that route. The best is composite wood, but it don't last.

@R/T

R/T, Something is wrong then. Check to see if your lean and check the timing.
Is your radiator up to the task?

I’ve run some pretty hot small blocks with the thick gasket and aluminum carbs. Carter, Edelbrock & Holley aluminum carbs.

On mine (crossram), yep, aluminum to aluminum, w/gasket between. Your manifold iron? Probably not enough.
I was curious...so, after engine was warmed up, checked temp difference between the carbs and manifold. Carbs were much cooler, than the manifold.

Naw, everythings fine, new edelbrock dual plane, should of just blocked off the heat crossover when i installed it.

Yes on that

Anyways I went from this for many years running Carter AVS and various Edelbrock carbs

To this , when I installed my AVS 2 800 cfm on my Weiand Dual Plane last month

Man what a huge difference , car can sit for days now and fire right up as before had to crank and crank pumping the go pedal until

Drove the car 100 miles one way yesterday in 90 degree weather at 3200 Rpms , sat at a car show for six hours , fired right up after , perfect
