1967 charger with 440. anyone using 440 source distributor and/or mini-starter??

I bought one of there mini starters and it didn’t last very long before it burned out. Just off the warranty. After that poor experience I went with a Promaster mini. No such problems. Wouldn’t buy one of their mini starters again - no matter what they say about them....

thank you, i'll try promaster on the mini starter. not sure yet on a distributor.

Cheaper option is to get a mini starter off a 5.2/5.9 from the wrecker or buy a new one. They work great.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ last spring I was getting ready to upgrade to the 440, I called 440 source and talked to one of the techs about the lower cost $80 ? { all in one distributor } Their own tech told me not to buy it. He said advance curves were all over the place and they had a steady stream of them being returned.
I ended up ordering in a rebuilt points style one from Orileys and stuck my pertronix set out of my 383 distributor in it.

To 440 sources credit at least they told me not to buy it.

DB Electrical has good prices on starters. I have used several from them and never had a problem, knock on wood. As far as the distributor, I would go with a Firecore before one from 440 Source.

thanks for info, I bought heads and water pump from them and appear to be good. but will stay away from their dist. and starter. I think i'll get a powermaster starter from what some of the comments have been.
