Well here we are again mother nature is trying to kill FL again!

I've got screen caps of the last position of several storms before the power went out, that look just like post#3 but closer, and it's my house!

Wife and I have our fingers crossed again as our youngest daughter lives in Miami Beach when she took a job in Miami, her 1st job out of college, two years ago. Go figure, we got her hotel reservations to evacuate when Irma struck and then the damn eye of the hurricane changed course going pert near over where she was staying with her two dogs 4 hours north of Miami. Luckily for her all ended OK. Try finding a hotel that takes two dogs! Now it's a crapshoot again as to if or when an evac order might be given. A real helpless feeling as a parent when your kid is 1200 miles away. Best of luck to our FL (and other folks) wherever this one smacks!

I lived in Fort Lauderdale for 12 years and went through 7 hurricanes including Katrina (yes it hit Florida first)....There was one September when we got one every weekend, they referred to Florida as “the plywood state”, there was even a picture depicting it (maybe Cranium has it on file) :D
Probably 2004: Charlie, Francis, Jean, Ivan... I was in Palm Bay then.

Well that's my 6th house getting shutters
Going to do another now .
And add a few more generator s to the repair list !
Man does my back hurt

I have gas for the generator. Gas for the cook stove. I'm still picking up the yard stuff and watching. Haven't put the plywood up yet. They have no idea where this storm will go. The hurricanes rarely ever follow the NHC track. It sucks, I have to work Sunday in Orlando but that depends on which way this thing moves.

3 of the 4 2004 eyes passed within 5 miles of my house, the 4th within 15 miles.

2017 Irma eye passed within 5.

What was it that Wille Nelson said "Marriage and divorce is like a hurricane, at first there's a lot of sucking and blowing going on then you lose your house".
Stay safe everyone, I hope this one doesn't linger too long.

Hurricane Freud has some nads!

If climate scientists all agree there is MMGW then why can't they agree on what track the storm will take?

Got gas and lp gas
Got my house done yesterday clear shutter's so it lets light in still!
I got to pick stuff up .
And do something with the scrap pile!!!!
Oh and pull compressor inside.

So my wife wants me to push the charger outside and put her SUV in garage!
So it won't get a scratch!!!!
So I told her I will go out my foot threw her window if she goes near my car !I guess she doesn't understand how insurance works !

It's ok guys charger is safely indoors I was able to rearrange garage . To fit both ! I don't think if car was on 4 wheels I would of not made it!

Well I sure hope she was joking. If so give her some kudo's for keeping a sense of humor considering the coming storm..

She wasn't joking ! She even called it a POS and said the newer car needs to be protected!
I told her to watch it ,me and her cousin are becoming close and she's 10 years younger! And a only 110-120#'s or so . I told her a new model might be a good idea!!!

lol! Old car, young wife...sounds like a nice mix. Don't tell my missus I said this! Best of luck and we have our fingers crossed for our youngest who lives in Miami.

We've been trusting these storm models a lot in recent years and all of Florida has been in this "error cone". The models really screwed up on this storm early on and we're hoping to rely on them now to make decisions. People around here are going crazy. I think the news stations try to stir people up with these big red animations of satellite pics and red cones of where the storm could be.
Got an email from insurance company that said they would reimburse expenses of having car stored to a safe storage facility. Would not mind moving, but nothing is available right now. Hoping for the best.

If I lived in an area that can suffer storm surge I'd strongly consider taking the car to a multi level parking structure.... Yes it might be exposed to flying debris but thats allot less likely to do serious damage than being flooded...

so, so sorry to hear that ****

well it's the annual hurricane season
& yet Florida is getting hit again
(unfortunately it's sort of common, the past few decades,
as long as I can remember)

stay safe
& try to stay dry
go to higher land

hope all the Floridians come out this as well as possible

sucks for Florida to go thru that **** every damn year

you people will be in our thoughts

Evacuation is always a problem. We stayed for Irma but left when Matthew started heading for us. We were on the road for 12 hours. I swore I'd rather die than do that again ha ha. Irma we stayed and we didn't even lose power during the whole storm. Were 9 houses from the Atlantic ocean so we are watching this one. I have some family over in St Pete maybe we'll go over there if we have to.

looks like projected track is now off the East coast

of course with Irma, as it neared my area it was clear the track was wrong but the NWS refused to alter it and instead of the eye 20 miles away as per the track, it was less than 5, and they still didn't alter the track.

I posted earlier that we're concerned about our kid in Miami, she had evacuated for Irma only to hold up in a hotel in the Sebring area for three days where the eye ended up tracking near. Two of the three days she sat there with no power with her two dogs in the hotel. Try to find a hotel that takes two dogs. Yeah the experts can give you some idea; but that's it. They can't make any confirms where it might track so you get spaghetti maps. So this go around with Dorian is same deal; but then how much time is adequate to order an evac? Try to tell half a million people or more to get out in 24 or even 36 hours? Gridlock so ya spend hours in bumper to bumper and risk your well being on the road anyway. The experts are all worried about being on the hook in event something catastrophic happens if they don't overkill warnings like I suppose Katrina...
