I guess I go about things a little different than most. Rich or poor, I would buy the car I wanted and enjoy it however it came. I can’t just buy a restored car, and frankly don’t want one. I want a car that I can drive, rare or not. It has to be a car that makes ME happy. I had a 67 GTX for over 25 years, loved that car and had about $5k into it....total. I’m opportunistic and buy sell and trade for what I want. I traded the GTX and some cash because I always wanted a 70 Roadrunner. Now I have one, and can die happy. Sure, I could send it off to Worman and spend 5 years and $80k restoring it to never drive. Or I can spend $800 at a time upgrading things and just driving it, I choose the latter.
For those who think high dollar cars aren’t still out there for cheap, I have $19k into this car total so far. Probably have $22k into it by the time it’s road worthy.
