Who buys these super expensive Muscle Cars?

I would consider any Mopar musclecar over 50 grand expensive. Most people don't have 50 grand laying around to spend on a hobby car. That said, thats about the number needed to get into the collector end of the hobby, these days.

Yet my old car show buddy, from the late 80's and early '90's, Timmy Schmidt has wheel sets for his cars that run $30K alone. Seems his plastics company did a BIT better than mine! LOL

A 66 Satellite Convertible was sold at Mecum Harrisburg, I'd like to talk to losing bidder.

I was told by a friend that works in a muscle car restoration shop, that a customer paid 50k for a set of Corvette knock off wheels with original tires, that were stored in plastic bags in someone's basement since they were removed from his car day two.

And a stack of cash takes up a lot less room in the garage!
My sister who is not in good financial shape said why don't you sell your cars. I said what am I going to do in my garage throw dollars bills in the air and go whoopie? Helping her out is like throwing money away. If she goes broke she'll live with her daughter.

I hope someone has a need for a super expensive 69 Coronet in a couple of months when I sell mine! All joking aside the price of the car is not directly proportional to the amount of fun you can have. Getting out with your buddies and/or meeting new people can be done on nearly any budget. There’s nothing wrong with a car done to the max or one that needs the max, just be happy with what you can afford.

If I had any brains, I would sell off all but two of the cars, sell off all the parts, buy a Hellcat Challenger, and make a big mancave out of the back section of the garage!

Apparently I'm not broke out with the brains either. I should just keep several and sell the rest too. My problem is when I decide to sell one, I get it out, go over it good, take it out for some last fun and as I'm doing that all the memories and why I bought it come rushing back. I guess it keeps me from getting alzheimers. Also I have bought a couple with the intention of flipping and end up making it something that I really like and it all starts over again.

Unless you came across the deal of the century, 20-30 grand doesn't buy much in the way of any hi-po B-body these days.
yep, it ain't 1977 anymore people :poke:
a good quality car, well built & accurate 'collector car' now,
or nice quality "muscle car" ain't cheap

to build or to buy

doesn't mean you can't buy a nice car for $25k-$30k
they're still out there
but unless you stumbled on a 'great deal'
some real barn find survivor (select key words for sales pitches)
$30k won't buy that much, in todays collector car values
in the realm of 'collector/muscle cars' today
$30k is more like the starting price

it ain't 1977, hell not even 1997 anymore
they aren't a dime a dozen either

When I say who ARE these people like Jerry Seinfeld says, I mean where do these buyers come from? I'd like to find them.

To get a Seinfeld type buyer, you first need to have the caliber of car that's in their league. I can guarantee that he's not looking for a lowly 30 grand beater.

It’s all relative.
Lots of folks would submit that 20,000 for a hobby car is too much.

Some people have more money than others. Those folks buy more expensive toys

Money is relative. The more money...the more relatives.

I know a multimillionaire that is in his upper 80s. He is definitely a car guy. He owns one car that he bought used several years ago; and has no "special" cars. I suspect this is why he is a multimillionaire.

Well, what's stopping you?

I have sold off 11 cars in the last two years, and I only bought 4. I have several friends who are selling off their cars, and some that are still buying them up. Gary bought a new Hellcat Challenger Redeye, and he wants to sell off everything he has.
