I guess I go about things a little different than most. Rich or poor, I would buy the car I wanted and enjoy it however it came. I can’t just buy a restored car, and frankly don’t want one. I want a car that I can drive, rare or not. It has to be a car that makes ME happy. I had a 67 GTX for over 25 years, loved that car and had about $5k into it....total. I’m opportunistic and buy sell and trade for what I want. I traded the GTX and some cash because I always wanted a 70 Roadrunner. Now I have one, and can die happy. Sure, I could send it off to Worman and spend 5 years and $80k restoring it to never drive. Or I can spend $800 at a time upgrading things and just driving it, I choose the latter.

For those who think high dollar cars aren’t still out there for cheap, I have $19k into this car total so far. Probably have $22k into it by the time it’s road worthy.

Had my Satellite 41 years and have 12K into it and maybe a 2 grand into NOS parts not on the car. I drive it but not like I use to.

That's what I mean. Let's say you buy a special car for $75K. Put $25K into it. Who is the buyer? What do they do with it? Just keep it in a temperature-controlled room. The second question is are these rich people only found at auctions?

I recently sold my X. What I’m curious about is how you attract these foreign buyers. While it’s challenging to see our cars leave the US - we spread our hobby around the world and besides $$ talks.

I read a statement recently that someone posted up, can't remember where.
"If you don't drive and enjoy your car, then its like not f$#%ing your girlfriend, because you want to preserve her for the next guy".
Enjoy the shit out of it I say.

Most of the time. I would think it would be hard to think that they sit looking thru craigs list. People with plenty of disposable income usually are very busy. This is one scenario that happened.. A guy brings 53 Cars to Barrett-Jackson to sell from his collection. One goes for 6 million and he gives the money away to charity. During the rest of the weekend he buys 36 more. I hardly think he has time to enjoy them. Then there are the re-sellers. Locally a classic car dealership opened. At the Vegas Barrett-Jackson he took about 10-12 cars and trucks to auction. He brought back all but 2.I don't think he made any money that weekend. It's the business game I guess. (p.s. One of these days I'll get the hang of putting the quote in the right place)

You cannot judge the real world market by a bunch of drunk geezers over paying for cars at televisied auctions.

The other thing I thought about. Let's say you made a billion dollars last year and you need a tax write off. You buy the first Drag Pack Challenger made, or whatever, that was offered up as a charity car. You get to write off a million dollars as a charitable donation. Pretty sweet deal.

I drive my numbers matching Hemi Charger as often as my schedule and weather allows, Hasn't been on a trailer since i got it running again in 2015. What's the sense of having it if you don't drive it. It was my dad's car and he was NYPD, commuted 60 miles to work in it when his other cars were down.He would roll over in his grave if I let it just sit in my garage.

To me it is about my love for cars. Mainly musclecars. I have never been into them for the money. Yes, over the years I have had to sell several to pay bills etc. To me they are never worth what people ask for them these days. I have had my red Charger over 29 years now and to this day I don't have $10,000.00 into it. I enjoy it for what it is. I drive the hell out of it. Enjoying meeting all of the other car people at the car shows and now passing the torch to my kids to hopefully enjoy them when I am gone. That is what this hobby is all about.
