'67 charger, 440, doug's headers, msd spark plug wires. do I need heat sleeves for msd spark plug wires?

How close are the wires to the tubes? I have the same parts as you do and I went with sleeves just in case...

There were some on my 440 when I bought it and I am sure they helped some. My biggest problem was that the plug boots got soft and mushy from the close proximity to the headers on several wires. They were MSD & they were supposed to be high temperature with silicon boots. Never lasted that long so I went with a wire set that had ceramic boots and haven't had any problems ever since! I used the few sleeves for certain wire areas that were closest to the headers.

I use them and they help bigtime. I also slid one over my positive battery cable where it crosses between the two header tubes to cut down heat on the cable itself. Very rare if at all my car won't turn over hot, even on the hottest days in the 90's in the summer heat. I run a mini starter which also helps, but my cable used to get heat soaked by the headers and bake itself to death and eventually deteriorate.

63 Plymouth Fury, Doug's headers (D452), Taylor 8mm wires with 135* boots. No sleeves, no burning...

looks excellent!! i bought the regular wire brackets for the 440. did you use them for all the wires plus the stainless ones for the #6 and #8 wires?

Thanks. I used the MSD composite separators. 2 wire ones in the rear on both banks and 4 wire ones going toward the driver's side. 135* boots on the Taylor wires. Universal, cut to length.
