flex plate to converter (727 - 360)

Is the bolt pattern on the flex plate equal? (i.e. does it matter which hole aligns with which converter mount)
 
If the bolts line up you are good to go. I they don't, then spin the converter one hole at a time until they do.

One is offset slightly. I got in the habit of making a witness mark on one of the converter lugs. 360s are external balance, make sure you have the right converter.

well.. i understand that. I just don't want to try 3 separate times to get it right when i'm on my back under the car.

Maybe it's not that big of a deal to just do the 3 separate times. I would assume there might be a mark on both of them to indicate it.
 
Does the torque convertor have a drain plug?

If it does it goes 180 degrees from the 3/16 hole drilled in the flex plate...

Stick one bolt in tight and turn it over to all 3 others if they are off try again the next hole over ! Just get you plugs out to help turn motor over And stick a ratchet on the front crank bolt or just spin with a pry bar .
 
If you haven't marked the flex plate and converter ahead of time, you're stuck with trial & error 1 bolt in rotate & check the others till you have it right. THEN MARK IT. Wild RT's suggestion should work with a stock converter.
