I posted this pic in a thread i had, on my parents sewer replacement, but thought i'd ask directly. This bottle and horse shoe were unearthed by the contractor. Has anyone ever heard of a soft drink called, city ? The plat is 60+ years old.

My guess is that back in the day there were a lot of local bottlers

Glad to help....

There used to be a LOT of locally produced and/or bottled drinks in the Dayton area.

I got a friend up there that is very involved in unearthing and documenting local soda artifacts among other things.

Cool. I would love to hear if he has anything to say about the pic. I think it may have been a beer bottle.

Google- Dayton Diggers IIRC.

Do a search on eBay for this - I've been surprised finding what I thought was some ultra rare item finding ten of them on eBay.

Most of that stuff is not worth anything, but is cool, particularly if very local.

Some stuff is ridiculously valuable, though.

I cleaned the bottle, and found part of the word, star, before city. A little investigation revealed some history. The bottle was found in Miamisburg. It's known as, star city, for being the only city with that name. In the 1950's there was a beverage company located there called star city . i found a pic online of what i suspect the bottle originally looked like.
