Hemi water pump pulley???

Doesn't look like a 66, 67, or a 68 Hemi pulley looks to small diameter.

Around '69-'70 they started using the smaller pulley on A/C cars to speed up the fan for better cooling. The part number is correct for a SB of that era.

I looked through the ad and never saw a part number in the description.. Then I just saw it up in the manufacturers part number but it looks nothing like this one w/ the same part # that why I was thinking listed wrong and another application... https://www.ebay.com/itm/MOPAR-2951836-WATER-PUMP-PULLEY-SINGLE-GROOVE/154090748777

The one auctioned...

Measured one my 66 or 68 Hemi WP pulleys 6 7/8". Think they were smaller in 70/71 but not sure.

The correct hemi water pump drive sheave (drive pulley) is part # 2946716 This can be used on B / RB engines WITHOUT air conditioning, using the original crankshaft sheave. This sheave is approximately 6 1/4" diameter and will require a SLIGHTLY shorter drive belt (approximately 2" shorter) and will result in the water pump turning faster by 200+ RPMs at any given eengine RPM, resulting in more gallons per minute of coolant circulated at a higher velocity. I use this sheave along with the # 2806070 torque drive fan clutch and a 7 blade fan for improved cooling system performance. Works well....

That 2946716 I don't a 1966 PN. I have 2-66 pulley (sheave) and a 68 I know these the history of them. They came off 3 engines Ive had all 6 7/8". I'm not saying your wrong about the pulley 2946716 being a Hemi pulley because I don't know, you don't say what year or other info if any.

The part number came right out of the 1970 - 1971 MOPAR parts manual Group 7.1 Cooling, for the 426 engine single groove application for the Plymouth or Dodge vehicle line. I can't measure the actual sheave's pitch diameter (the running diameter where the drive belt contacts the groove's flanks) or overall length (back side surface to fan clutch hub dimension) as the car is in storage for the winter. Perhaps when the car comes out next spring, i need to pull the origional # 2998956 radiator as it has a small leak on the bottom tank near the drain petcock.

I put in my first post I wasn't sure about 70/71s. Seen then for sale and they looked different. Still learning. Reading threads on here has been educational.

I've seen the Hemi water pump drive sheave on the Mancinini Racing (spelling ?) Web site and Year one site, without a part munbers or dimensions, description only, for ~ $ 150.00 plus shipping. There are several NOS vendors on the net....Kramer Automotive, AMS Obsolete, Brad's NOS, AntiqueMopar.com, that may be a source but they like it if you're specific with part numbers. I've used the first 3 vendors .... it takes a little while to get info back and the part you need is usually/always more expensive than you anticipated spending.....but if seeking origionality.....nothing else will do.... Just my opinion of course.

66 to 68 early Hemi used the normal Big Block Water pump pulley. The Crankshaft pulley was hemi specific to compensate for the thicker damper. In late 68 up they used a smaller pulley diameter for the water pump, and it has a shorter height then the look a like small block shown. Small blocks had a few different pulleys depending on water pump type.

The 68 late crankshaft pulley changed to again. Along with moving from the TRW PS pump to the Federal. This drove a change to the alternator going to a dual pulley for alignment.

69 up Hemi WP pulley will not work on a normal big block with thin damper, without shimming. The height is not the same.

On my dads 440/505, we used the factory pulleys off his numbers matching 70’ Challenger RT, it has the smallest water pump pulley I’ve ever seen.
