Engine Mounts - Engine Will not Bolt to K-Member

I just completed rebuilding the 383 for my 1967 Coronet. When I got the car it had a busted driver side engine mount. I was told the engine had been removed for the car to be painted. I bought two engine mounts from O'Rielly's, Power Torque. I set the engine in the car and could only get one of the new mounts to fit. After trying to get the engine started it turned out the engine needed rebuilt.

Now that the engine has been rebuilt I wanted to use both mounts. The engine was refusing to set down with the pins in the slots in the K member. The pins turned out to be longer than the pin on the original motor mount. I ground the pins down shorter and the motor now sets down in the slots. I also had to grind some excess metal from the driver's side mount to clear the steering box mount.

I managed to get the motor mounts to line up with the holes on the side the bolt is installed from, but the bolts will not line up with the holes on the other side. Today I noticed that the stud was longer than the one on the original and cut it down so two threads are showing. I am still having trouble getting the bolts to line up. Any suggestions?

The mount shown in the first picture is not going down far enough. The pin should be tapered on the end to help it go in the hole.

Question is is the pin causing that? Possible but I doubt it... The gap is to the front, thats the drivers side of the engine... I think the rear of the engine needs to be raised....

That was taken before I modified the pin adn the mount. It is sitting like this now.View attachment 1040553
in that picture the top of the rubber mount is twisted.
you should loosen the nut on the inside of that bracket and adjust it.
make sure you keep both sides of that motor semi loose for adjustment as you drop the motor down.
tighten after engine is in and aligned.
make sure you have your trans mount on and also semi loose bolted in.
 
Went to NAPA and bought a new set of the rubber motor mounts. I pulled the Power Torques off. I set noticed the rubber was taller than the rubber on the mounts I bought at NAPA. The rubber height on the two mounts was not even consistent. The taller of the two had a height of 1-3/4 inches compared to 1-3/8" for the NAPA mounts. I found an old motor mount and measured it. It was 1-3/8" the same height as the NAPA motor mount.

As a side note the NAPA mounts were in two different size boxes so I took them out at the store and made sure they were the same.
 
I just put NAPA mounts in my '70 Charger 500 (318), and they fit like a glove. Always leave fasteners loose until all of them are at least finger-tight-threaded, that way you don't bind anything up or 'wedge' anything in the wrong position.
