have bought a Hellcat? You realize this is late 1960's all over again

Not really. The way the laws are and with a camera on every block youre lucky if you can get away with a burn out

IMO being around a looong time, this is a good stretch more than the late 60's if you compare HP then and now. Back then the headiest factory motors might get 425 to maybe 450 HP. They started coming around in the early 60's on a few cars thinking the Hemi and what Pontiac had as examples. Older rides of course, didn't have near the braking or handling advantages of today's muscle - but - geezuz today add what another 350 to 400 HP? Damn near doubling the output. Put some dude behind the wheel of a 700-800 HP motor and best a luck they know how to handle it. Lol, how many crashed Challengers can be had today?

The horsepower wars are on and it's just like 1969.
Now if you're a little older and wiser don't drive it like a fool
The Hellcat gets good gas mileage if you stay out of it
$62k for a 800 horsepower ride, friggin bargain

AND...that 425hp to 450hp in those days was at the crank...this new stuff is rated to the wheels...we have a 2017 Scat Pack Challenger and we love it!! My 512 in my 71 Challenger will take it but, its not nearly as comfortable as the 2017...lol. Anybody who says they don't like the new ones is either a liar or, haven't driven one. I couldn't imagine the Hellcat or Demon...I think I would need a diaper.

I guess where I'm going with this is buying these today is just like buying the hemi's, 440 six pac etc etc. If you're young enough today you'll have collector items later

Having had a ’70 Cuda and ’73 Challenger back when as daily rides and driving a new one (few years ago) no dispute about the comfort, handling, quality, etc. and etc. Miles apart. My problem is I’m OLD school and an OLD geezer now. Despite all the improvements…all the way around…I’d still take a cherry ’70 Cuda or Challenger first before buying a new one. lol

Don't get me wrong I LOVE driving my old stuff, I do it as much as I can but, this newer stuff is a perfect blend of performance and creature comforts. I just told my wife the other day that if I ever pop the 512 in the 71 then, I will find a wreck Scat Pack and put the 392 and 8spd auto in my 71...air conditioning and all. I would nothing more than to drive my 71 on a loooong road trip, I could now but at 6 miles to the gallon and, with 512 you wouldn't want to go too far in one shot.

Nope, not for me even if I could afford one ... and if that check cleared I'd be in someone else's high heels LOL! Too much plastic or carbon fiber (especially under the hood), too many sensors and far too many bells and whistles depleting all the reasons I fell in love with muscle cars to begin with. Besides, manual brakes keep the legs in shape and manual steering helps the twins fight the perils of gravity.

And just like back then, there were people who knew what they were doing and those that don't. Dude on the corner has an SRT cherokee and beats the living **** out of it, blew the trans then the transfer case and now the engine. He's probably got $100k into it by now, not to mention $450 monthly for insurance.

Like in 1971 it ended pretty abruptly

it's cool while it lasts
we've had 10-13 great years

6-7 really high #'s years

killer SUV's (Durango the most),
Killer PUs (TRX Ram the most),
killer 2dr & 4dr cars (Challengers & Charger the most)
from all the big 3

history repeats itself
if you're into the newer iron (plastic fantastic) it's good time

gas prices going up, insurance rates going up
progressive govt. a--hole getting their BS passed

sounds a lot like 1971, today
