The Argument for More Roundabouts

Single lane ones are OK. Those multi-lane ones in high traffic areas are FUBAR.

They are everywhere WI

If your not playing DEFENSE , you will get smoked

To many people have not figured them out , and they never will

Local cell phone company commercial couldn’t sum it up any better

Their sprouting up all over here. Yes the multiple lane ones are a goat screw but even though no one here seems to know how to drive them, I haven't heard about any minor major accidents with them. I am getting used to them and can scoot across town saving 10 or 15 min. for a 25 min trip across town.

I prefer the Mexican four-stage traffic signals compared to the three-stage USA style. The flashing green lets you know the light is about to change to yellow which is a good heads-up.

Ya. we have long yellows that do the same thing.

We used to have long red lights, where both lights were red for several seconds before changing to green years ago but they did away with them. They just effed up traffic.

just gotta be smarter than the circle your driving around, save time and money people just need to get used to them

If they are a big diameter roundabout? Then they are ok. But in Gainesville Florida they are converted ftom regular intersections with not enough room to make the turn without hitting the curb. So drivers go the wrong way around. and trucks just plow over the sign in the middle of the center circle which is a out 6 feet in diameter. Totally stupid!

Hands down, data shows they reduce accidents , and deaths, at high traffic four way intersections in most every state. The folks that bought my old house said they could hear the wrecks, and would call the cops, almost weekly prior to the DOT putting in one close by. She said since then there has only been one wreck that they know of. I like em.....

I navigated my first roundabout in Tulsa OK 1981, Coming up on It I said WTF. Since then driven thru hundreds all over the world. They’re great to keep it moving. Just like left turn yellow arrows we’re starting to see.

Hold on a sec - you want a country, in which a good half of the population can't even manage
to drive in a straight line without staring into their phones and wrecking left and right, to now
navigate what?

Whatever you're drinking is pretty damn potent. I'd go easy on it.

I think they are great, but Americans are either not smart enough or cooperative enough to use them. Half the drivers come to a full stop whether the circle is occupied or not. The other half leave no breathing room for other cars to seamlessly enter. If you try and squeeze in, people in the circle see it as a competition to keep you out. In time, maybe we can figure it out.

Some engineer's here also don't know how the design them. They need a large radius to allow enough space for car entering to gauge the traffic and time the merge. You also need room in the circle for more than just two or three cars. You can't cram them onto a postage stamp, which means buying more property at the intersection. There is one in town that is so small that if there are no cars in it I just drive over the rolled curb in the center and straight on through. It's a joke.

Don't bother asking a big rig driver what they think of them.

Rant over.

I don't see the problem.....roundabouts are easy to use.

Much easier than a 4-way Lottery intersection. :poke:
