I need some help figuring out a reasonable valuation.

1967 Charger 383 car. It's a dual console car that's almost done. There's over $70k I receipts for work done. All professionally done to the highest degree. Gauge cluster and grille headlight assembly rebuilt. All trim gone trough and restored. Countless parts refurbished, powder coated, etc.

The only real work needed to finish is the floors put in, and it comes with the floors, then prep and paint, then assemble the thing.

My initial guesstimate is around $40k, but I need opinions please.

Looks like a nice charger, complete painted fully restored is it even worth 40K? I'd say it's 15-20k if lucky. My opinion. Edited

Sum of the parts and unfinished body work are more than the value of the completed car.

Sorry.

That's the way I see it.

(...and I like 66/67 Chargers)

You can get a solid, running, driving car with shiny paint for 35K.

Unfortunately I'd say that is generous... One year newer and you'd be in good shape.... You invested n the wrong car... They are cool, but have never been popular enough to raise the price... If it were a numbers matching Hemi you would still be upside down..

It's a long way from being done.
There's 100's of hours left and the engine doesn't look like it's been touched.
Most people don't like to buy projects (but I do).
The parts are worth more than the sum on a 66-67.

Is this your car or are you looking to purchase and want a reasonable offer?

No offense, but there isn't "hundreds" of hours left.

Yes, there's a reasonable amount of work, but all of the heavy lifting is done. Some fab, floors, paint, assemble.

I'd just do it at the shop if we didn't have 10 cars apart and in the middle of 3 bikes too.

Unfortunately the best built cars don’t necessarily bring the prices they should. Good side, prices for parts cars are less expensive. ( sounds like I am biased)! They are also more rare which makes them more noticeable in everyday traffic.
Goal is to get ours finished for July. Here’s hoping.

According to the valuation in post 6 (from the entity formerly known as "Old Cars Price Guide"), which I respect-

A trailer queen 383, show car is worth about 47K.

Even at 50% discount, which would be 23.5K.....I think it's a tough sell.

Are ALL the parts there, especially the body trim. Somebody wasted $50k. MO.

There is close to 100 hours just in body and paint if your doing right. That's not putting in the floors, searching for all the missing parts...lots of hours left. If you take that shell to a good body shop that specializes in restoration type work your looking at around 25k to get floors in and painted. I feel like your buddy is in over his head financially on this car. Those 66-67 Chargers are a car that you better love if your gonna restore because, your gonna be stuck with it, unless you take a big hit on it.

Of course the car is upside down. The build was a labor of love and no one expects to get their actual money out of it. I'm trying to find out a reasonable valuation for the car with all of the new parts and everything restored as it is.

I agree, if you are doing it to flip forget it. If you want something for yourself to enjoy and keep it doesn’t really matter how much it is worth in the end. Not a good idea as a money making investment. I am fortunate enough to be able to finish the car, hopefully drive it. It won’t have any bearing on our lifestyle or finances. I will just make sure it is accurately insured.
