It's ok, no reason to apologize posting in an "old" thread, and I saw that Engine Masters episode and I believe they didn't tweak or tune the Holley 2bbl carbs enough to get the most out of the Wieand 6bbl intake.
I've seen a dyno sheet comparisons and older comparisons of the factory dual plane, standard port intake vs big 4bbl on performance intake and they were very close.
I spoke with guys using the Weiand and they liked it. Rather than repeat myself, I don't have a dog in the hunt right now, I still say the Weiand was the best aftermarket 6bbl intake other than a custom fabricated tunnel ram style intake, but if God blesses me in a miraculous way and my efforts produce the desired results I'm going to go with a modded ModMan Indy intake w/MaxWedge ports and the 3x2 Holley carbs on the 571 that's still a pile of very expensive parts at this time.

Nope, running it as is. There are few guys that have gone to tunnel rams. The plenum has to be cut down to fit the 5" scoop limit. Only one has shown any promise. It's maybe .05 quicker the the 440-25. We have done a ton of work on the low deck Mod Man. That car runs well. But since it never was run with a untouched intake can't say how much better it is. The car weighes 3575. gone 9.72@137 with a 475" motor.

Doug do you have any pictures of modifications to Mod Man and was they done a little at a time or all at once?
I had approximately same “ 3970 lb race weight and went best 10.14 w/2 750 cfm eddy’s and good SR heads. The only mod to intake was to the top plate had the 4 hole’s opened to one (each carb) and 1” 4 hole HVL spacers installed. That set up did very well in my opinion.
New set up is 512” 440-1 325cnc and have struggled with this set up.

I think a few of you guys should start some new threads on the Modman and the Weiand 3x2 so the information is kept together, and so it doesn't pollute the OP's post on

the Indy 440-25.

This is what the inside looks like. Thanks to Larry Meaux for help with runner length and cross section. Our friend Sean Johnson did the fab on the lower. Dave Harmon built the top. Top pic is a stocker. For sure the pent roof shape on th efloor even with no other mods appears to be a benifit.

Wow, there's a crapload of work in that modman!
I'd love to know how much stronger the engine is after mods compared to a stock modman.
Doug, that's your son's 62, right?

I used to bug Doug on occasion to let me try some tweaks on this intake. But this is a good post to show the gains that the 440-25 can yield basically untouched. Separately, the M1 TR is a pretty good piece IMO. Any manifold is one piece of the equation obviously. The plenum on the Indy CR being so large it can offset smaller carbs to some degree and if the motor is big enough it'll pull a good signal thru carbs that don't have a big pump-shot. I did the mods to the Modman shown above. Things got carried away for time spent and being it was a 'freebie' basically, it isn't perfect. Being the first shot at a major rework, it serves as a baseline to make adjustments. I'll start a new post on that...

I modified a 2nd plenum for my M1 Tunnel Ran, but have yet to use it. I think it will work better than the original.
