Early B Body turn signal switch discussion. Shee Mar SM102

And here another informative link… for 64/66

Turn Signal Switch & Harness Assembly for 1964-1966 MoPar B-Body | eBay

Description show PNs. JUST IN CASE, ppl want to search by PN instead application

And a NOS piece… not really expensive if you ask me
Dodge 1963 1964 1965 1966 Brand New Turn Signal Switch TS102 2631383 2822170 | eBay
Both of those look identical to the one I bought. If the seller posts OEM part numbers that throws a red flag for me unless the part has the part number on it like the original did.

Mopar Performance replacements available around 10-15 years ago got the cornering lamps feature under the regular 72 and lates A,B and E body setup. These were just like the Chinese replacements, without the bearing for the horn ring, but just the brass stud.

Turn Signal Switch# 3488804 / 4240278 / 4293103 - 1973-79 - Dodge - Plymouth - Chrysler - NOS - SHIPS FREE TO LOWER 48 - Blue Star Performance

I have also seen Mopar replacements like this but using the correct PN (the 804) for our 72 and lates cars.

Can’t recall Mopar Performance replacements for earlier models with cornering lamps.
Shows out of stock. I wonder if they will get new stock?

I don't know why I didn't think of doing this before I installed mine. Plug it in and test the operation before installing it in the column. At least that way I can see if it's defective before installing it. If I plug it in and my brake lights are still wonky, back it goes.

The tag on my switch I took out was #2496163 The parts book above was from My Mopar and I would imagine the #2822170 was a superseded number. Those will give me something to search for any way.

Made in USA Must be the Shee Mar Sm102

Yep, yikes! NOS though.

Looks like a used one. Not a repop like the title says.

I just read a thread on A Bodies than Dan's switch # is TS102. Same as SM102 (Shee Mar)? Both are supposed to be made in the US.

@Slantsixdan switch was made by the original Chrysler supplier. I believe it was made in Argentina.

I made this thread a sticky so it will be easier to find. There are thousands of early cars that may need a switch. Thanks @Bob Jordan for starting the thread.

Bad news today. Slantsixdan contacted me and he doesn't have any real turn signal switches now. Good news is he is hoping to get more in 60 days or so. Thank you, I'll wait.

Great news. Thanks.

Well my shee-mar switch seems to be going downhill. The brake lights are fine. Turn signals are fine when activated all the way one side or the other. The problem is a fairly wide band in the middle where I get the flashing rear lights. Was rare at first but now happens even after a normal turn and cancellation.

Yikes! That price would be enough to scare you off. I wonder what the differences are in the 67 and newer switches?

I guess that seals the deal. I am keeping the ones I have.
A friends son took the switch out of either the 66 or 67 Charger over 20 years ago. Lubed it and did some other things to it. They live in Illinois, he drives it quite a lot. Still works fine.

Yep, the original switches lasted a half century. The latest repops don't work properly right out of the box.

Well CRAP. It's not an easy install and now there seems to be a problem with the switch.
Brake lights work 100%
Turn signal lever locks into place and signals work both sides no problem.
System cancels just fine both sides.
BUT
I was playing around to see if there was a lane change position (you know, where you move the lever but not far enough to lock in).
For the left there seems to be a lane change function.
THE PROBLEM - when I move the lever TOWARD the position where I would put it for a right hand turn BOTH REAR LIGHTS FLASH AND THE FLASHER CAN CLICKS. It's like a super secret 4 way FLASHER position but only rear lights flash. Pretty sure that's not supposed to be there.
Nine times out of then the lever and switch return to neutral but occasionally it finds that rear lights flash position. If I push the lever all the way for a right turn it works fine.
Oh well - good enough for now. I was trying to fix intermittent brake lights and that's fine now.
Anyone else ever seen this?
Thanks
I am having similar problem, but it’s the fronts that flash not the back. If I have the “Flasher” switch up, and put my right or left turn signal on, the rear taillights work correctly, but the fronts will flash together. I however did put in a newer turn signal flasher and haven’t yet put in a new 4 way flasher. So maybe that’s the problem.

I feel bad about this whole thing. Finally found the time to change the switch. It went well. Thought the Shee-Mar was fine at first. Discovered the weird rear lights flash position. Shee-Mar was great on the phone but that didn't fix my switch. Tried Dan. He is out. Hard to find OEM switch. Almost ready to bypass the turn signal switch for brake lights and just use the trusty old hand signals. Or just drive on straight roads and never turn.

I was thinking the same. I need to check if the brake lights both work all the time until I use my turn signal. Got to have brake lights. Turn signals are very important but I can live without them. My car just sits because the lights don't work.
