Been trying to sell my 03 Cummins diesel, wasn't having luck or complete low balls.
So a guy messaged me, 09 Streetglide with 15k, new tires and paperwork on fluids. For my rusty leaking Cummins? OK! We'll see if he shows. He did and said it was like his he crashed, said he’ll fix everything, take my Harley. I did.

Apparently he only paid 4500 for the bike to pay off the note. Front rim is 2k alone. Streetglides with 30k- 45k miles are going for 9-10k in my area. I couldn’t say no.

My first bike, so I’m going to do the MFL and borrow the BILs Dyna for a bit. But this is so comfortable. Guy I got it from said he learned on an ultra and doesn't have a motorcycle license. Crazy. Last bike I rode was a 250 dirt bike in 1999. Been practicing clutching in the garage.

If he was in need of a heavier P/U, and didn't need bike? Could be a win/win. Its all about one's needs.

(this coming from over 250k miles behind the handlebars, on the street and on the track)....

Just remember, you are a target on a motorcycle. Ride defensively, and PLEASE don't buy into the bullshit "loud pipes save lives". All they do is piss off the neighbors.

Learn to ride the motorcycle.

Take a MSF safety course.
Take an advanced rider course.

If you can, after you do those, talk to some motor officers and see if they'll give you some tips.

Learn to ride the bike.

Learn to maintain the bike.

Do proper pre-flight checks every time you ride.

Wear proper riding gear.

Ride defensively, and PAY ATTENTION (because the other guy, won't).

Enjoy!

Yeah. One does have to have the mindset that you're a target. What I've learned on 4 wheel classic car driving? "Hold your line!" On the highway it's one's lane. Just as a road or circle track race driver. Most Problems I've seen are the results of sudden or unnecessary lane changes. Even if not the cause. It played a role. Reckless or impatient sudden lane changes puts you as the danger to motorbikes. And puts you as prey to heavy vehicles and semi trucks.

The obvious other and likely more deadly to motorbikes is cross traffic. If one has to stop or yield to traffic that does not thus has right away? Like that of turning right on a red light. I visualize what a motorcycle would look like in that situation coming down the road. So one does have better recognition in that event.

Just my observations and habits. I've never had a crash on public roadways. At the track? That's a different story. Never a bad track crash, but have tapped a wall or two. Lol.
