Anybody have knowledge of Gates industrial belts, need an odd belt...

Heard back from V belt guys.....

Thank you for reaching out to us! This should be a CC210. Below is a link to this part on our site. Please let us know if you have any questions.

CC210 - CC210 Double Angled Hex V-Belt

Thank you!

So, after I told them in my email that it wasn't a CC210 they turn around & tell me it's a CC210.... Guess reading comprehension isn't their strong point...
Don't you just hate it when a Supplier doesn't even know their own product?

I've dealt with OMC both in the next town over and their main facility in Yuba City... They are happy to sell the wrong belt (CC210) only thing is, they want $520 for the same belt I can buy from Motion Industries for $85...

Machines like this are rare here in California, most were turned in for environmental farm credits on new equipment... The whole tend is 1000 acre farms with all brand new equipment... There's a push for clean electric tractors... So the battery dies in the back of the property & there's no power available, Sorry, harvest has been put on hold till the tractor charges... Break out the solar panels..
I have sent an email to a company at the very bottom of New Zealand to see if they can help. Sometimes these little stores have books and knowledge....also asked if they can do custom builds.
Invercargill as it happens - the home of Burt Munro.
I should hear something back tomorrow....fingers crossed.

I just showed this to the Motion guy I've worked with for years... he's the kind of guy that can pull solutions from thin air and has saved my butt many times. He looked into it and said you're likely SOL. He's gonna keep digging but doesn't have much hope.

Must not be enough "old guys" left at OMC. That isn't unique to them. Too bad, but even bigger names like JD are losing their service and moving towards throw away stuff.

I have not forgotten about the belts..... hadn't heard back from the shop, and the last few times I called they were closed.

I just got off the phone with Jack at the shop - and he said the number rings true..... so he will start digging for me.
He asked how I found their shop - given that they don't have a big internet presence. I told him I was sick of trying all the big-name houses for parts and searched for a small out of the way family run business....and they popped up about 8 pages into the search.

He sounded positive, but no guarantees. Hopefully I will hear back from Jack today...or tomorrow. He has the sketch of the belt on email now.

Randy - True to his word, Jack called me back - unfortunately with no success. He contacted everyone he could think of including Gates themselves. The belt is discontinued (which I'm sure you knew) and there is no longer any supply of the rubber profile to even make a custom length belt replacement.

That profile is no longer in production. He could only suggest a re-design of the pulleys to accept a regular high quality modern belt.

Unfortunately the design bends the belt in weird ways that make a re-design unlikely... I appreciate You & Jacks efforts.... We'll see where this goes... We have it back together with a wrong belt that seems to be working in spite of rolling in the groove... Can't try shaking anything for quite awhile, the ground is so wet from the rains if you shake the tree you might as well lift it outta the ground.... Once the ground dries the blossoms will be on the trees... So we wait till first harvest....

Haha, been there. Made a detour from our trip to visit Invercargill and Hayes Hardware. Even rode the bike on Oreti(?) Beach.

Very cool.... the only time I have been to Invercargill is as a stopover when a flight was diverted from landing in Queenstown due to low cloud. Queenstown is (or was) a visual only landing airport - being surrounded by high mountains. The 3-1/2 bus ride north was the absolute pits.

Invercargill is one of those places you go to on purpose....not by accident. :)
