Hemi swap planning recommendations? 69 Charger and 00 Dakota.

I currently am planning to do a couple Hemi swaps this summer. I have a 69 Charger and a 00 Dakota. I also have a 06 5.7 Hemi, 20 5.7 Hemi and a 23 6.4 Hemi I have collected for these projects. I plan to put the 6.4 in the Charger and the 5.7 in the Dakota. I pretty much have everything for the...

    Hello from the Midwest

Welcome from Alabama, my Gen III swaps were done before much was available, but a 5.7 swap will net you great economy for a driver. I'm running 3.55's in both of mine. The 5.7 car is a manual TKO 5-speed. The 6.1 car retains the 727.

Early B Body Gen 3 HEMI swap. Who has done it?

I've done plenty of research and I'm continuing to do research. In fact, that is why I am here searching for people who have done similar swaps. While I appreciate what you've shared I have many more questions that your post could not and did not answer, primarily the questions regarding...

    gen 3 hemi coil covers.

I am putting a 5.7 gen 3 hemi in a 65 coronet, using the msd box for the ignition and just because it is an old car, I think it should have carbs. I am fully versed in fuel injection and done several swaps; I just want some carbs. My question is, looking for some reasonable priced coil...

Ballpark estimate for the cost to do a 5.7 Hemi swap in a '70 Charger

I'm similar when it comes to the money, but I am now getting to where the gating factor is where I'll spend a lot more if I know it will save me a lot of time/effort. I still have a job that eats most of my time so when I can work on the car I want to get as much accomplished as possible and...

    Belvedere II with 318

A modern 5.7 or 392 Hemi conversion will give you more power, reliability, ease of use and easily give 20 mpg. Of course there’s a hefty price to pay for that, but you end up with an extremely reliable car that you can drive anywhere. I think as time goes in, you’ll see more and more of these swaps.

    Belvedere II with 318

Oh for sure! Now they even have a controller for the 8 speed. But everything about those swaps is expensive. I really want to hear one carbureted.

    Need help on engine decision

The AFR Black Hawk 224 CNC Gen 3 heads are advertised to flow 390 cfm @ 0.700" lift The 212 head looks good too, with a bit better low lift flow @ 0.400" and below. 0.500" is almost the same. Just thinking of swaps with stock cam. The heads are a bit pricy $2,041 each, but come fully assembled...

    Used Police cars ???

I have a '13 AWD Charger 5.7. Can't speak to police, I bought mine new when they still offered it to us peons. I also don't know what they changed in the 7 years after they built mine. I do know people put the '11 and '12 on a chassis dyno and the AWD showed 35HP more then the 2wd. They also...

    Your opinion of the Crossfires.

A Gen 3 Hemi probably will fit. There's been a few articles posted on a Crossfire Forum swapping Benz V8s into a Crossfires. I believe the Benz engine was chosen because of the electronics of the Benz V8 was easier to modify to play with the electronics of the Crossfire. What I've read the...

Engine replacement ideas for the 2007 Ram 1500

I kind of lost your train of thought. Is the new too you scrap yard 5.7 going in your pickup as is. Did you give up on making it speedier? And your current 5.7 in the pickup is getting rebuilt for the charger? I run 2 5.7s. A 06 and a 09. The 09 is a 5.7 Eagle engine with 150k, in an...

    Gen III Hemi engine builds

Not sure if there is an existing thread for proven engine builds concerning the Gen III Hemi but figure it would be a decent resource as there is nowhere near the information out there compared to say, LS engines. I am currently building two Gen IIIs Engine 1 - Stock 6.1L Hemi that has been in...

    1973 Charger Hemi Swap

Just inherited my Uncles 1973 Dodge Charger SE, I'm the third owner and it's stayed in the family the whole time. The block on the LA series that came with it was broken so I'm figuring out what to do with it. I've been scouring the internet for information on hemi swaps but it doesn't seem like...

    5.9 Magnum swap questions.

Here is some of the problems with trying to do that conversion. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/forums/magnum-engine-swaps.131/ Easier to put a 5.7 Gen III Hemi in it. Almost a straight bolt in. Kits are available.

    Just bought a 71 Charger... going to a 5.7 I think

70 Challenger 440, Nice score on the 71, and I love the idea of a 5.7!!!!! IMO, the Holley Terminator X for like $1500, is a GREAT way to run the 5.7 engine.(control timing, fire injectors, it comes with a ecu, wires and pre-programed tunes to start with) One other good system is the Mopar...

Factory original MOPAR EFI on you Vintage Mopar?????

Another option for the Gen III 5.7 or 6.4 could be the factory kits that include all the sensors, throttle pedal, power train modules and wiring etc. as a complete package designed to use these engines in older vehicles. Look for PN 77072454AC for the 392 kit and PN 77072455AG for the...

Don't swap in a modern engine or efi for driveability

At some point, it just comes down to - simplicity. Simple gets you point (a) to point (b). I've come full circle on this issue. Years ago I was a big believer in EFI, and the Holley Sniper kit I purchased worked exceptionally well - when it worked, which unfortunately wasn't for very long...
