In a 66 or 67 Hemi car what would be the time between engine assembly date on pad and the build date of the car. What is acceptable? I know Mopar did some crazy stuff.
I have a 1967 GTX with the original Hemi motor. It was rebuilt by the best, Larry Sheperd, of Hemi's only. He has been building and rebuilding Hemi's for 50 years and written numerous books. Here are his recommendations for a class hemi that only occasionally is driven.
Pennzoil 20w50 racing oil...
My 67 Street Hemi has two plastic fuel filters. I have seen metal barrel like fuel filters advertised. Is there a particular year metal filters were used? Thanks
I am curious as to what other members use in their Hemi cars for fuel. The Hemi will run fine on Premium unleaded pump fuel because the compression is below 11:1. I personally run either 100LL Av gas or Cam II 110 race fuel. Both are quite expensive, but I am concerned about the Ethanol in pump...
The 1967 GTX came standard with the 440 or optional 426 Hemi. I know the Hemi had a four blade X fixed fan. Did the 440 have a 7 blade fan with a clutch?
I have a 1967 Hemi GTX. with an automatic. Even after it is up to operating temp the idle is to low in Park. With the dual quads how is the idle raised? Is it just one carb or both that have to be adjusted? Thanks
If any of you guys have a stock 66 or 67 Hemi with the standard 6 qts, could you give me the measurement in inches of your dipstick from the tip to the collar at the top. Thanks
I think most of you know I bought this beautiful Hemi GTX recently. It had the wrong oil in it so I changed it...
I am having a disagreement with a friend. He says the Hemi did not go to 6qts. of oil with a filter until 1970. I told him all street Hemis from 1966 on were 6 qts. with the filter not 5.
I have been told by some well known engine builders and restorers that street Hemis are correct with clutch fans and other members have said only fan was a 4 blade X fixed fan. I know as far back as 1963, the early made max wedge had the 4 blade fixed fan, but by later in 1963 it was switched to...
I have been told many have asked about this. When running the street hemi rattles. It is not a valve tappet noise but a true rattle. I have been told this is normal. Anyone else care to chime in?
You have a choice between a national 1st place winning 1963 Dodge max wedge and a national 1st place winning 1967 Plymouth GTX street Hemi. Which would you rather have? That is the position I am in. I already have the max wedge, but have a deal involving a trade for the GTX, not even up.:eusa_think:
First question I have is, was ther any actual difference in just the block of a race Hemi vs a Street Hemi? RO vs RS.
The last RO and WO 1967 Super stock Dodge and Plymouths were built Feb. 12, 1967 according to my research. 55 of each. Rk Motors Charlette is advertising a white 1967 GTX built...
I have gotten all kinds of advice as to how to start my max wedge. I know it is tough to start and keep running until there is some heat in the cylinders. Yesterday I had a tougher time than usual getting it started and after getting it running and dying on the fifth try, the next try sound like...
I am looking for a needle in a haystack. Anyone know where an original 1963 Torqueflite, part #2408007 might be and for sale? This is the correct trans that went into the max wedge. I have a friend desperately looking for one. I have been told they sell for $3500.00 - $4000.00 if one can be...
I need to replace a leaking valve cover gasket on the passenger side of my max wedge. I don't want to risk messing up the valve cover and paint. It has been suggested to loosen the exhaust manifold to gain even a 1/4 inch to remove the valve cover. Worst case would be to remove the exhaust...
