Well, as the old saying goes, "you learn something new every day".
Not the one I readTHERE WAS ONLY ONE PERSON IN THE ELEVATOR WHICH FELL 75 STORIES! AND SHE SURVIVED!!
Not the one I read
Readers Digest 40 years ago. I went online and read the latest "version". The only reason I remembered the RD article was the thought of being in that elevator crashing to the bottom with those other DEAD people (like it said in that article) that stuck in my mind. And nothing about "safety" brakes in a 1934 elevator. Who knows how many times that story's been re typed, maybe the NY Times from that day would be the most accurate since I was born four years later and wasn't thereWas that published by CNN? Lol!
In the most recent article they said TWO lady’s survived the drop. More discrepancies I guess. Only 84 years ago what could be left out?The lady that survived the elevator drop set a Guiness world record that has not been broken. Over 1000 ft IIRC.
