Hi guys,
I am new to B-bodies, but no Mopar. Here is my story/question:
My buddy just bought a 1965 Coronet 500. Car is currently fitted with a 440 with 2 4 barrels. The previous owner also sold him what he said was the original to the car rebuilt 426. The car was originally a 4-speed car.
The car has no Fender Tag and the VIN only tells that it was a V8 car. Any way to tell what it was without a Fender Tag and/or build sheet? I believe no, but I am more familiar with 1968 & up Mopar
Also, I am not sure, but I think it is a Max Wedge. The Valve covers have Ramcharger 426 III stickers, which I know are easy to get. The Block casting Number is 2532230 date coded to 9/25/64 and the Intake casting number is 2206000. He will pull the valve covers tonight to confirm the head casting numbers. Is this engine rare? If so, it seems strange that a previous owner rebuilt this engine, but no documentation exists.
If this car was originally a 426 Max Wedge 4-speed, it should be pretty rare, right? Did he stumble into something good here or are we over thinking this?
Pete
