1968 Roadrunner refresher

Man time flies, the last I had done at Tri-City Plating were $450 each, but you are right they will be near perfect if that hasn't changed.

Yea they had a big jump last year from $500 to $800. I was pissed at myself that I didn't send them earlier but I am not falling for it again. Figured why wait until the spring when/if they jump up again. I didn't want to pay even more for the same service just because I waited. This is the last piece of the puzzle then the car is done and I can start recouping some funds ha!

Things just cost more after the covid thing. The supply chain is broken still all back ordered it seems. Even the bumper from AMD I got have some imperfections on them. Like they don't care how they handle the bumper before going to chrome. My buddy says it looks like spray chrome. Nothing is like it use to be back in the day with quality in mind when producing parts.

For sure I agree. I was also scared of it coming damaged or having issues then having to wait another year for a replacement. Ultimately I said the extra cost was worth it and decided to go with rechromed originals.

Tri city delivered today! Look great and I can’t wait to get these assembled and mounted in the coming days!

We got the rear on today! Kinda hard as it’s in a tight area for storage but we made it work and got it on. Initially the one side fought me but we were able to get a few bolts started and then got everything lined up pretty good. There’s not much if any adjustment really available on the rear bumpers compared to the front so they’re kind of straight forward

Holy Sheeeeite Muslim it looks killer outside! Only thing now is hubcaps but can't do that until she gets a few miles on it and re torque wheels after the front end alignment.

Man I love that color. I want one that color now. Lol
Just dances in the sun! I never knew how good it would look fresh in the sun as it’s rare and I’ve never seen one in person done in the correct PPG shade. Never been happier!

I’m a little late to the party on this I know man but I gotta say…between the history, family and working to overcoming the obstacles that so often lead to lengthy delay…which often leads to it never seeing completion…

Very nice work man!

And to think, nearly in my own backyard

At a track not far from you I fell in love with these ‘68/‘69 RR’s. Back in the late 70’s/early 80’s as a kid.

Well the hubcaps are on and the car is as done as it’s gonna get as we’re heading to the indoor show in my area in two weeks. Pretty cool to get an invite to the show and it should look good under all the lights inside the convention center.
