1970 Roadrunner Build

Transmission and exhaust installed. The Accurate exhaust system fit perfect from the manifolds to the tips. Still have to get the driveshaft loop, which arrived today, and the driveshaft itself installed.

Got my restored shifter handle back from Scott at Shifter Doc. Highly recommend him if you need shifter/handle restoration or any Hurst parts.

Finishing up engine wiring and hope to get engine fired this weekend. Also put my tags on so I can hit the road after we get the interior back in :)

So freakin' nice!
Still looking for my invite for a visit... :)

Top notch all the way!!!

Thanks Hawk. I remember joining FBBO in 2016 and seeing your car build as I was looking for any information I could find on 1970 Roadrunners. I would look at it for guidance and the whole time think I will never get there, but now am inching closer to completion. Thanks for answering my questions starting with wheel and tire size as well as other things.

100% my pleasure. And I am glad my build helped you with yours. You car and build are definitely a reference build as well! Maybe when I do my drive (now hopefully postponed to next year due to the pandemic) I can get a chance to see your car in person!

It’s alive........Stopped this morning and picked up 10 gallons of non ethanol 93 before heading over to the shop. After a couple of weeks wiring everything up and getting a few other things wrapped up it was the big day. Installed battery, filled radiator and put a little fuel in the center carburetor. On the third cranking attempt she woke back up from her slumber. All my gauges seem to be reading correct, but have a few lighting issues to work out. Couldn’t be happier and I need a bit of Garage Joy after this last week :D

Not accomplishing much during the Holidays, but got a few things done in the last couple of weeks. After soaking driveshaft in Evaporust and using a satin clear to prevent rust got it installed back into the car. Also got all the jack parts painted Gray and mounted the new spare tire so I could finish the trunk area up. Shout out to 69bfan for the R.E.M. trunk mat he sent out in one business day

The door glass is finally installed and a few other small things done. The passenger side is adjusted, but still tweaking the drivers side a bit. The new felts in the channels made the roll up/down really tight.

Popped the trim rings on the wheels today and found out the valve stems are a bit short :screwy: Got all of the Air Grabber system working properly. We knew something didn’t seem right and then after looking at pictures prior to car tear down realized I was missing the tension spring that helps the door shut back down.

Looking good and getting close to done!

If you used reproduction plastic sliders on the felt between the window and vent frame, they are too big and make the window hard to roll up/down. Re-using the old sliders with new felt is the way to go.

@tnfastback
That rascal is looking so very nice! Between you and @Beekeeper Scott's efforts, there will soon
be some properly gorgeous b-bodies repping FBBO from this neck of the woods.

Thanks OKdart........I did use a couple new ones to replace the old ones that were unusable, but we ground them down in size prior to installing them. I referenced that thread and others as the whole window rebuild was a pain.

I want another EK2 70 RR!!!
