SPOILER ALERT!!!

Don't read the following Maple Grove pro qualifying information if you're planning to watch the television coverage of qualifying.

I'm going to be out of the house all day tomorrow with my Inland Mopars Car Club at the Veteran's Memorial Car Show in Alta Loma, CA. This is always a great show for an outstanding charity - the Vets at the VA hospital in Alta Loma. They limit the car show to the first 1100 cars and always sell out.

Congrats this week to YoungGun74 (FBBO) for winning the Top Qualifier title at the NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway with a total of 30.5 bonus points - just 1.5 point short of PERFECT! He picked the #1 qualifiers in Top Fuel and Pro Stock, the #2 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle, and the #3 qualifier in Funny Car. Outstanding!
memike (FABO) is right behind with 30.0 bonus points. He also picked the #1 qualifiers in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock, but picked the #2 qualifier in Funny Car and the #4 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

aslant is the top FBBO picker with 29.0 points.
Way to go all!

This week 24 players (I still haven't seen anything from super-bee_ski) picked 22 different driver combinations consisting of:
* 5 different Top Fuel drivers. No head-to-head matchups in Round 1 of eliminations, but two possible head-to-head matchups in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 5 different Funny Car drivers and, again, no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There is a potential of 1 head-to-head matchup in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 7 different Pro Stock drivers. No Round 1 head-to-head matchups, but a possibility of 3 head-to-head matchup in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 5 different Pro Stock Motorcycle riders. No Round 1 head-to-head matchups, but a possibility of 2 head-to-head matchup in Round 2 of eliminations.

Hey guys -
Long day outside in the SoCal heat (101F) yesterday and was too tired to do the results last night after finally watching the DVR'd race coverage.
I promise they'll be posted tonight after work.
Sorry for the delay...

good job in Qual. alsant,
hey my T/F & F/C picks went out 1st round
P/SM winner & P/S runner-up did ok,
I figured they would be the early losers, if any,
LOL go figure...

P/S Allen Johnson finally started to get his s--t together, allegedly he had some bad sets of slicks...

really pretty interesting race, either fast pass almost record pass or just blow off the tires,
some mix/shuffling up in points...

I should have stuck with Tony Schumacher {spit after saying his name...LOL}
John Courtney & Robert went out early, Brittney Force did well,
not the JFR car you'd expect thou

winners; IIRC
Schumacher TF over Brittney Force
Hagan FC over De Joria
Brogdon PS over AJ
Krawiec PSM over Savoie

Yeah I didn't picked Allen and he goes to the finals...lost but made if further than Jeg. Damned if you damned if you don't.

Has anybody downloaded the NHRA app on their phone? I did a few weeks ago, its pretty cool. (I'm fairly new to this whole "smart phone" B.S.)

Update (10/07/14): The updated point totals are all computed but I ran out of time to get them posted last night. They will be up and posted tonight for sure - and the standings are tight with only two race events to go.
It's going to be an exciting finish right down to the last pass of the NHRA season.

Good luck to everyone, I think I need to make up a {100+} hundred points minimum,
unless I pick some longshots {that no-one else picks/thinks will win, above me in points}
in the next 2 events in Vegas & Pomona, "that can pull it off get a win" {Fat Chance},
it ain't happening probably...LOL...

I missed out on allot of little points not picking
Doug Kalitta or Erica Enders {even Schumacher}... oh well such if life

But we do have a decent showing for a few of the FBBO crew...

Thanks to ocdart for all the work/time he puts into these games...

After the last race, points standings

Gpuller has a good shot at still possibly winning it...
only a round away

aslant has an outside shot at still winning it too...
a couple {3} of rounds away from the leader

I think I'm way too far back...
like 6 rounds

Bobtile well he's behind me,
like 8-9 rounds back

so just maybe we can play spoilers,
but probably no chance of the big win...

sorry 64BEL & super_bee-ski,
WELL better luck next year, I hope we get even more players...

It was still was fun thou...

54F temp at the start of eliminations on Sunday! Are you kidding me? Send some of that cool weather out here to SoCal. It was 101F at the car show I was at on Sunday. I'm so done with summer weather and looking forward to some cool temps.

More crazy elimination results and more tightening of the game point standings. If you were one of the three players to pick Matt Hagan in Funny Car then you're happy. Otherwise your pick lost in the 1st round.

Congratulations to 'YoungGun74' (FABO) for being the top point getter for the NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway with an outstanding score of 175.5 points. He picked the class winners in both Top Fuel and Funny Car and both his Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle picks won two rounds of eliminations before losing in the third round. His picks also earned him a combination of ET and Speed bonus points that totaled up to 25.
Congrats also to 'OldmanRick' for being the runner-up this week with 163.0 points. He picked the class winners in both Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle. His Top Fuel and Pro Stock picks won two rounds of eliminations.
'alsant' was the top FBBO player with 129.0 points.
Great picking all!

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Tony Schumacher, 3.733 during qualifying
Speed - Doug Kalitta and Brittany Force, 329.91 for both during the semi-final round of eliminations

Speed - John Force, 323.97 during qualifying

The next-to-last event of the "Countdown", and of the 2014 NHRA season, is the 14th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals at "The Strip" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV, October 30 - November 2. Did you notice the dates? The race at Las Vegas is over Halloween weekend! For many years Las Vegas has meant more "tricks" than "treats" for visitors to it's gambling and probably also will mean the same for both the racers and our game players.

As always, your picks need to be posted before Pro Qualifying starts on Friday, October 31, in order to qualify for all event bonus points.
Pro qualifying is scheduled to start at 1:00PM PDT (4:00PM EDT).
The Toyota Nationals entry list is posted on NHRA.com and currently shows 19 Top Fuel, 21 Funny Car, 20 Pro Stock and 16 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries, but the counts are subject to change. Keep checking http://www.nhra.com/events/entrylist23.aspx for an updated entry list.

Get your picks posted and GOOD LUCK!

Good Job alsant!

I can relate, it's cost me quite a few time now, especially in little qualifying points

Whoa....thought the race was this weekend! Came here and saw nobody's picks. Guess I got a few weeks!

yeah Vegas is Oct. 30th to Nov. 2nd IIRC anyway
