21 August 2017; main land America's Solar Eclipse....

We should get a high 90% total block out here. I dont want to travel a little bit north to be in the mix with all the people coming in. Gonna be crowded. Local news is warning to fill up gas tanks and stock up on supplies. Gonna be like Y2K all over again. Sheesh!

For a solar eclipse? They know what causes those nowadays...lol.

Only gonna get partial eclipse where I'm at (central CA) they just look like the sun has a little slice carved out of it...if you have a chance to see the total eclipse, do it..they're pretty awesome.

Yeah, you guys in upper North west will be in for a treat!
The Birds go whacky, they go right to trees and start chirping, thinking it's night time
I saw a 90 percent in Ohio 1993 or 1994

Where are you? I'm in Atwater.

I'm an amateur photographer, but it's too far south for me.

That might be the last one I saw. We all stood outside with our welding helmets, at work.

On August 21st, a total solar eclipse will be visible to mainland America.
Are any forum members going to view?

I will be viewing.
A definite "Maybe", If I remember :poke:
do you know what time it's supposed to happen here ? {Ca}

I recall seeing the last one in 1979.

I was working on a powerhouse construction project in eastern Oregon.
My vantage point was on top of the tall building with flat land on all sides as far as I could see and a clear sky.
Looking at the sun to see it blink out for a couple of minutes is in IMO not as awesome as seeing the edge of the huge shadow rush across the land from one horizon to the other at the rate that the earth is turning.
In my case, Oregon is at about the 45th parallel so the land speed is somewhere near 500mph?-- To see that shadow come across the land at jet speed and pass over me was something I will never forget.

BTW I was an apprentice in my craft and am now kinda retired. At the time the news alerted us all to stand by for the next one to pass through here.---It would be in the year 2017--
