I have a 76 318 that I just aquired rebuilt 302 heads for a good price.
These should bump compression to 9:1
This is a 904 w/ 2.76 8 3/4 (planning on 3.55's).
Planning on dual plane intake, 600 holley, headers with 2.5 exhaust.
Love the specs on the Comp cam XE268h..nice torque, good RPM range.
Cam has a nice lope. Comp says needs adjustable valve train.
What's recommended in this case?

And you will need at least a 2000 rpm stall converter or you will be disappointed at the soggy bottom end.

I wasn't chasing HP when I built mine (don't like lopey cams) so I just put in a 340 stock spec cam, with 4bbl intake and carb.

Which cam did you use?

Stuck a 260 cam in sister-in-laws 318 66 Barracuda, first real test drive getting on the highway was doing 80 before I knew it. Swapped same camshaft and parts in her 340 long block, should be slightly milder due to bigger engine. Was not able to drive the car with the new engine.
edit: used stock valve train.
