318 poly advice

Yes that created a big header problem back in the day. They could be custom made. When checked $350 was a lot of money in 1973.

You can't beat the TTI Poly headers !

I dropped near 9 grand in my poly and while it's a might quicker I should a stuck with my initial crate motor plan. Yeah did the cam, .60 bore, solid lifters, 3" duals/TTI's, 3:55's, converter, and the wow-factor was the cash not the git up and go. Runs great and sounds meaner than it is...

Mine was never much for 1/4 times. But for a small engine the rpm staying power was something else.

poly heads have their own wow factor with those scalloped edges (and the aforementioned exhausts).

they look great with finned AL covers

despite the identical hp/tq ratings vs the early LA 318, every poly 318 I've owned felt like it had WAY more torque than any LA I've owned (except my '00 5.9).

Thanks everybody that gave me some new knowledge on these polys!
The old boat anchor as they say was always a strong running durable motor that used to be of no interest in tricking up until years later. As said it has some features from the hemi and if done right can get ya some serious go as I've read about and some guys out there that know how to do it. I had my car 20 years thinking on re-doing the motor but it ran so strong I always pushed it off until last year. I think there's something not quite right with my build or there should have been more radical mod's done. I have suspicion the convertor isn't right - something is sluggy with it. I can and have torn down motors and rebuilt with only mild tricks but when it gets beyond that I'm out of my league. I dropped a ton of cash to have a well recommended expert shop get it right and they missed something between what my expectations were and what I got. Think about what you want to achieve with your 318.
