Guys, my 73 was a factory 4 speed car that a PO has installed a 727. I have been acquiring the parts to return it back to 4 speed and THINK I read that manuals and autos require different cross members. Can you send me somewhere to see a picture of the cross member needed so I can figure out what I got or need to acquire.....thanks..

That would all depend on which tail shaft you use on the 4 speed.

There are year specific ones and dual pattern ones.

But for your year car j think they are the same providing you have a trans output housing with the E body mount location or aka dual pattern

I think this is the x member you need, which is the same manual or auto on your year.

Try Brewers website may have pictures. They probably have the parts. Depends on your wallet and whether you want to save by chasing parts.

I have one of those dual pattern mount tail shafts note the picture posted by:4mulas that is the tail shaft used when using an a833 from 68-70 model year. I don’t need it and would sell it if needed?

Ok, I have the duel pattern tail shaft on my four speed. So, if I understand correctly , if I measure from the front bell housing on the 727 to the center of rear cross member mount , it should be the same as from the bell housing bolted to the four speed to tail shaft rear mount. I am taking it that the duel mount only refers to shifter location and not two different rear mount locations. In other words the original cross member did not need to be changed when the PO stuck in the 727.
In looking over my parts I think I m down to picking out a street clutch and may need a z bar. Brewers description said I need a 9 inch and mine only measured 8 inches. Thanks guys.....

Next question, which flywheel should I use, I have both the big and smaller one. I assume the bigger one allows for more clutch but did the 440 s come with both sizes or always with the bigger unit. thanks....

Tranny mounts are the same in 73 for auto and manual.
1970-4 would use the aluminum bell housing with the 130 Tooth flywheel.

Need to order a clutch for that 130 tooth, would that be a 10.5 or 11 inch clutch. What do you guys like for a street clutch, thats not a killer on the leg.....

Im looking at them now....do I want the 11inch or 10.5 inch....not sure what the 130 tooth takes..thanks..

Thanks Mark...we on it....I have two original z bars for Mopars. One is an 8 inch that I think is for e bodies. The other is an 9 inch which I think is the correct one for my 73 b body. The e body has a grease fitting and the b body does not. Is there a reason for that. Even though I have all new ball mounts and plastic ball end seal bushings, I am thinking of drilling and tapping for a grease fitting...just curious why the factory left that off...thanks...
