Friend cleaning out barn wanted to know what if any value all there including propane carb.
Ran when removed for diesel.

From a machine shop, labor and parts point of view, it is better suited to prop the barn door open.

If it runs? I'd keep it. What year is it ? Might have a forged crankshaft. Bore it out to a std. 383 bore and you have a 426!

it'd be worth the effort to take the crank out.
depending on the year, the heads might be worth having.

I have 2 440 irrigation engines. I'd done some research, seems like the industrial engines were premium engines, supposedly with a higher nickel content block. The one I tore apart 440 2 barrel with propane carb. Double roller timing chain, windage tray and an extended flange crank with 8 bolt holes, not tapped, had bolts and nuts behind the crank flange. They have a huge flywheel.
To use one in a car you would have to swap out the crank unless you are using the old cast iron Torqueflight.

Bet it has adjustable rockers. Friend gave me two 413 marine engines rotted by saltwater forged cranks and adj rockers, sorry I tossed the rods.

My 440's both have stamped rockers. I know there were a lot more 413's used than 440's in industrial form.

Depends if it is a industrial 413 or out of a car. A lot of car engines were repurposed for irrigation engines. Water pump is pretty obvious. Industrial water pump is higher with bigger bearings. Some industrial engines have a sae bellhousing and you can use a allison transmission or a hd truck tranny. They aren't real desirable any more, but would give a older straight truck some pep. Seen them not running for 100-200. Running 500-700 depending on condition. Be a great donor for a old classic truck. Heck of a lot better then a 361 industrial.

Isn't the industrial water pump the same as the ones that they used on some motorhomes with the ports also go on to the heads?

Engine pad just has a B stamped on it.
Located South Western Michigan, couple hundred will buy it or best offer.
PM me for contact info.

B wouldn't that mean 1966 just guessing.

Both of my 440 irrigation engines have the standard car heads and regular water pump housing. The water pump has a grease zerk in it though.
