The RV engine curiousyellow71 referred to ran surprising well. It was a blast when it ran good (we had trouble fouling plugs). We reused that cam in a 1970 440 with the center dump truck manifolds in our 72 Satelite, it ran a 14.0@97 with a 800 eddy carb, stock converter,3.23s and tiny 205/75r14 tires. The RV engine with 452s, headers, TQ and 3.23s, my guess is it would have ran mid to upper 13s at 100+. It ran good for what it was.
Wrymrider what does the Jones RV cam have on the exhaust profile?
We lost a bearing on the on the RV engine shortly after we put that 204/214 cam in. The block later end up being used on a irrigation well out in central NE. We kept the 452 heads, they are on the engine in Curousyellow71 avatar Charger. But about a year ago our other brother bought that RV/irrigation engine back to use it in a 72 dodge crew cab. It was a spare engine and did not get much use over the last 25 years, plus it was ran on natural gas, it should be in good shape. I think he at least needs a better cam...lol. He was talking about using it as is (young family budget build LOL) I talked him into at least letting us swap cams. I thing we used 902 or 975 heads from a mid seventies 440 on it.
I am curious about the Jones RV cam, it would be a step in the right direction. Where does it have peak power at? What is the LSA? I know the asymmetrical grind probably acts like a wider lsa. The dc260 might be ok to, but I think that Jones cam looks like a better fit to haul his young family around.
