The seats are so bad from the guides being loose they need replacing?

Do you know what the cam & rocker situation was on those heads?

My machine shop said they wanted to replace the seats when they did the guides. They said the guides were "loose as a goose". I bought these heads from another guy who ran them for 1 season. I do not know what cam/rockers he ran, but the springs, retainers and keepers were verified to be good for .700 lift. To the naked eye, the heads looked almost brand new (and are ported) - that is why I bought them. I took them to my machine shop to verify that the springs, retainers, and keepers would be sufficient for the cam I am going to run. I trust my machine shop - as i have had them do other work for me over the years.

I haven’t had very many used Stealths in my shop, but I have seen them where they had excessive/severe guide wear(on all 16) with low use.
That one set were run with oe rockers and an under .500” lift cam, with maybe a couple thousand miles.

Another set were cnc ported back when Modern was doing them.
Those had been run with an XE285HL cam and 1.6 roller rockers.
11 of the 16 were bad(some really bad), but a few were fine. Strange.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting to have to have them re-worked. I am running Trickflow heads in my Cuda, and they are nice. This current build is for my '66 Wagon, and I am just using mostly parts I have laying around from other builds and swap meet scores. Even paying for the guides and seats, I will still have way less $$ in these heads than a new set of TF's. For this car build, I dont need the best. Just resurrecting a car that has been mothballed since the early 2000's to be a grubby cruiser.

Be interesting to hear just what the repair bill on your Stealths ends up being.

Are they going to replace the guides, or put liners in the existing guides?
