I have a 68 Coronet with a 440 in it and have the standard exhaust manifold gaskets installed, I was wondering are there some better gaskets, as I have thought about doubling them up just to ensure I am getting a good seal and they are not leaking? It seems they are pretty thin and my not create a great seal. Additionally, the bolts that go from the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe are difficult to tighten as they spin and getting the proper wrench on theme is a challenge. I understand there are some special ones that have tabs on them to keep them from spinning, but I have not been able to locate them on any of the sites. I was hoping one of the members could direct me, you feedback is always appreciated.

I welded a metal finger on the bolt head to limit the spin that is possible. Not stock but user friendly. Make fingers at least 1/8 inch thick for good welding.

Some B engines did not use a exhaust gasket from the factory. If it leaks try a different brand or machine the head and exhaust manifold flat(expensive machine work) or use Hi temp sealer.

That was what I was thinking on doing since seems like there is not place to source the new bolts. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions.

Correct,

At least have the Exhaust Manifolds checked for out-of-straightness.

Some Machine Shops use a Belt Sander Surface Grinder on the Exhaust Manifolds to provide for an even mating surface.

No exhaust manifold gaskets on my car. Both my 383 and 440 came from the factory without them and they seal fine. Like 440 Cuda said, they have to be straight.
