70 Coronet - Rebuild

I noticed your rear finish panel looked restored...Did you do that or send it out....it looks nicely done..

Thanks. It was done by someone else who fixed any small dents and polished it for me. There was someone else who did the paint on it as well. If you’re looking for someone who does this type of work, let me know and I’ll pass along the contact.

Little by little putting things back on the car every night. It’s nice to see the storage shelves slowly getting cleared.

Been working on tearing down and cleaning the heater box the last two days. Too many pieces and parts so I took about 30 pictures on my phone in hopes of making reassembly easier.

Here’s a few before pictures and I’ll post pics of it going back together.

While continuing to clean parts from the ac/heater box today, guy came out and installed my headliner. Got everything done except sail panels but he’s coming back in the morning to finish.

Finished cleaning all the heater box items. Had heater core, condenser and water valve inspected and all checked out good so had them ultrasonic cleaned (thanks to my brother) and prepped for reassembly.

Still need to troubleshoot the blower motor, but finished putting the box back together.

Been a while since I’ve given an update. Still working on car, just slowed down a bit due to waiting on parts and such.

Starting rebuilding front suspension in preparation for engine and tranny. Engine is nearly complete and we’ve already tore down tranny and cleaned everything. Just waiting on rebuild kit to reassemble.

Also trying to repair one of the bumper to fender fillers. I’m using a piece from a junk filler to patch a missing chunk on another. Here’s a pic of the chunk I’m replacing, but I haven’t taken a pic since I’ve glued it in place. I’ll show a pic once repair is finished.

I took a leap of faith and ordered a new aluminum radiator hoping the mounting holes for core support and fan shroud would be correct. Upon delivery, I was pleased it fits correctly for both the support and shroud. Small victory.

Seems like I’ve been jumping around lately, but trying to make progress. Trying to find the right paint for dash and other interior trim parts that has flat/satin finish so I can get those pieces ready for assembly as well.

Thankfully, local businesses are starting to reopen so I was able to drop off my bumpers and lover vent window trim to get rechromed. I’m hoping those get done in the next month or so.

Progress update, tore down steering column to paint and reassemble.

My brother is in the process of rebuilding my tranny right now as well.

Where did you get the radiator?

Thanks! I was looking at one of their 22" Rads for my 383 Scamp. They seem decent!

I was able to repair, clean and paint steering wheel and horn pad. Only had a few small cracks in steering wheel so it turned out nice.

Cleaning out the barn this weekend and had the bee out in direct sunlight for first time. Looking forward to driving her.

Received my rebuilt instrument cluster a few days ago and got it installed. I like the white background instead of the original black as it goes better with color scheme.

I’m also looking at hydro dipping the top plastic trim filler pieces with a silver carbon fiber look. I think that would also give it a unique look.

Finally finished putting dash back together. Ended up using white & silver carbon fiber hydro dip finish on upper trim panels. I think these look better than wood grain with the white cluster. I also added a superbee emblem over the glovebox door.

I also added dynamat material to entire floor pans.
