`70 road runner, FC7, 383, 727 It`s waited long enough, finally time to get it done.

After getting a smaller hone and trying to clean the bores up I realized the rust pits are too deep so probably won't seal well and tear up the new rubbers so I'm searching for better ones. Part number 2881613 if anyone has a couple to sell me?

I’ll look and see what I have. Are those the front or rear?

Decided to grab the trunk lid and start pulling back the crimped flange along the back edge. I knew it was swelled from rust but wasn't sure how bad it was going to be, when I opened it up I knew there was no chance of saving it as it literally starting peeling off along the edge. I'm not sure what I'm going to do - finish pulling the whole skin off, just sandblast and repair the back edge, try to find a nice used one or go with a new AMD? I leaned it back against the wall for now. Sing along - All I want for Christmas is a new trunk lid. :(

So my plan to just blast the lip and see what was left changed due to the weather - today was 30's with some snow squalls (luckily no accumulation) - so instead I started splitting it apart to gain access to the inner structure. I split the bottom edge but also needed to open the hems on the ends but after going about 10" I said screw it and decided to just separate the whole skin from the inner structure. About another hours work and it's apart. I know the lip was rusted anyway but I'm sure the mouse nest made it worse. There was also an old brazed patch covering a hole.

Nice 30 degree dayto be outside sand blasting  but I got structure cleaned up. I got half of the new lip welded on and ground but will need a second pass to fill in any gaps in the tack welds and of course do the same to the other half.

Work continues on the trunk structure, lip is all welded and ground along with two small patches. I am waiting on the metal for the skin lower lip that I am having a local metal shop form up for me. The one thing about being retired is I don't have access to a full sheet metal fabrication shop anymore, it was awesome for home projects.

While waiting on metal shop to form my lip pieces I am cleaning up the wheel cylinders I got, big thanks to @Hemirunner for digging them up and shipping to me. All four had some pitting but are not as deep as mine and honed out nice enough to use. Got most of it cleaned up just need to bead or sand blast the housings and I can assemble two with my NOS kits for the rear but I I'll have to find two more kits for the front ones.
