71 Charger Superbee Tribute/Restomod Build

I got the new stereo in my 14 Ram, pretty cool now with blind spot cameras and a front camera plus car play, etc. MUCH nicer than the crappy Uconnect deal.

I managed to get my fuel hard lines bent and installed.

I blocked off the majority of the holes on my firewall too. Planning on routing between inner and out fenders.

I thought about that but for me that isn't desirable or practical, I want the lines protected and accessible. Unlike so many these days, I am not a fan of smoothed out firewalls, hidden lines and wires. On my 70 challenger RT I have the Holley HP ECU in the drivers side fenderwell up above the brace, it was the only place I could find that I liked to mount it.

I build my own cars which means I have to work on them so hiding all that stuff just means more work to me, but more to the point I think an engine bay with everything hidden looks weird.

Yes I know thats all the rage and cars that cost many hundreds of thousands of dollars often are built this way but IMO I am not a fan.

My wall will still be lumps and bumps, just minus many holes. Hoses and wiring will be shielded from debris, ECM will be inside passenger compartment. Since I'm using a 70 k-frame in my 65, it moved the engine/trans back 1.5". The a/c plumbing and expansion valve were right in the middle of the wall, already close to the engine before it got moved back. Had to get moved anyway.

Sounds like you got this pretty well sorted out. I am sure it will be nice when finished.

I finally got my plasma table finished and made my first cuts today. I cut out some filler panels/plug that I will weld into the firewall. It took me most of the day and I could have made these small filler panels/plugs by hand several times over but it was a learning process and I have to say that the filler parts are FAR nicer (as in the pic being held by the magnet)

than they would have been if done by hand (not that it matters after they are welded in). Bottom line, its another tool in the box.

I built a firewall mock up to allow me to figure out my hydroboost system and connect it to the pedal. I discovered pretty quickly that I used the wrong reinforcement plate, the one I used is original to the car and is for power brakes which positions the push rod from the booster high and then uses a lever system from the pedal to connect it all. I would rather have the hydroboost connected directly to the pedal, so I ordered the manual brake stiffening plate which will work out much better.

I used my new plasma table to cut out the holes to replicate the firewall, I am pretty happy with that.

I was able to get the rear brake hard line bent up and installed today. I typically salvage the brake line spring/protector so I reused them here.

Mine will be here Friday, unfortunately it will be quite a while before I can use

I won’t be getting to it right away maybe a week or two. Redline said it should ship from Dakota digital today or tomorrow. I will be pulling the dash again after installing the vintage air kit. I have some things I want to square away. Got in a hurry buttoning it back up. This is perfect timing to fix the jumping speedometer, no tac and the oil pressure gauge not working. Get rid of the mechanical oil pressure gauge.
