71 Satellite hood release rod

I've searched and can't find an answer to this. Plenty about the cable operated latches, but I need to see how/ where the release rod bracket mounts to the grille or valance, or wherever. All the 71s I've had were the cable type, so this is my first one with a pull rod and I don't know where that damned bracket bolts on! Lol

The rod goes through a bracket that mounts to the backside of the bumper. Should be two 1/4" holes in the bumper.

So it would sit between the bottom of the bumper and the top of the lower grille?
