727 trans fluid level

ok I know I’m probably asking basic 101 info, but what is correct way to check fluid level in a 727, stock pan, trans. In gear hot, park hot, cold off. Having an old man moment. Be gentle!

Normal operating temperature (hot) and in neutral. It should say that on the dipstick. Car on level ground of course.

Hot, IDLING in neutral--and please remember to set the E-brake! Unless the valve body's been upgraded with something like a TransGo kit that lets you check it in Park, but the engine still needs to be running.
