I only use ATF+4 and my transmission shop says that's all I should use w a 670 lb/ft motor behind it

ATF+4 has much better specs compared to older fluids. I used it in the trans in my 65 Coronet (behind the Brutish 318 Poly 2 Bbl)! Works great (of course, I rebuilt it).

only better fluid is Citgo Quatrosyn
especially if it gets really cold (or really hot)
100 % fully group IV and V synthetic
developed later than the excellent +4
