Has anyone tried opening up the fake hood vents in the front of the 73-74 roadrunners to push cool air towards the air filter? Seems like it wouldn't be super difficult to me with the way the hood bulges and is constructed underneath. I guess it could be a problem when it rains, but maybe I could install some kind of manual flaps back in...

a LOT of work for what would be about a 1" opening.

drill, cut and file the pot metal, then drill, cut and file the sheet metal, and do something with the brace area (maybe drill, cut and file)

Too bad that's a MEAN looking hood.

There's a member that did this and covered the opening with hex mesh IIRC

A LOT of other extensive work to that car as well.

Most ram air hoods are open to rain and not an issue.

If you are running a big block, you will be letting water in right above the distributor.
