Guys i am in the process of buying a new shaft and i want to make sure they give me the proper length shaft, I don't know if mine is the right length, because when i jack up the rear to take off the driveshaft i have to take a cap of the u joint to get the shaft in place, it slides forward about 1/4 in. .I am thinking the one i have on it is on the long side, I think the measurement was 50in. center to center on the u joints, just wondering what lenght shaft you guys are running with your 4 speed cars to get the right shaft lenght. Thanks

As a rule of thumb, correct driveshaft length is determined by sliding the front driveshaft spline all the way onto the transmission tailshaft until it stops. then measure the distance from the front u-joint cross and the rearend yoke cross. Then subtract 3/4 in. This will give you the correct amount of movement for the slip-joint travel during rearend travel.

Good luck
