8 3/4 Horspower limits

Sometimes I think that the current no-prep craze is promoted for the i-wanna-see-a-crash crowd.
It does make for some interesting passes. I've been down an ill prepped track before with a 9 second car and well, didn't care for it one bit especially after looking at a wall coming at me. Don't know if I got into someone's mess or if the track workers didn't do a very good job. I watched the car ahead of me go and he went nice and straight but that doesn't always mean things are good....

The Mark Williams axle broke = Nothing to do with the 3rd member
If I had a Dana 60 =It would have had the very same identical Axles
With a spool they are identical (You do not want to break an axle with one)
The truck was WAY over 4000+++ Lbs.

I laugh about it too now = But at the time - Not so much!

The truck held the NHRA National Record N/SA for YEARS with same 3rd
member even today!

I broke 3 ribs and one penetrated my Kidney causing a 12
hour Surgery during which I died on the table 3 times.
Did you ever determine why the axle broke?
According to MW everything the make is the absolute best.

This was John's reply when I asked pretty much the same question....

"35 Spline/solid not rifle drilled/Broke on the flange end of axle. I am lucky the wheel/
tire/drum missed the starting line crew tossed it 300 ft. like a bazooka shell!!"
