Hey all... I'm putting together a 392 hemi swap in a 72 Satellite, and I'm having a hard time finding a new built / ready to bolt in 8.75 rearend...with preferably a 3.23 ratio. Are they all insanely expensive, like $4000+, or does anyone know a good source?

A wanted thread here would be the best place to start.

Several of the larger rear end vendors and some private ones offer 8 3/4's but don't know the prices. Moser does or did and Dr. Diff does for sure. I build them but very seldom these days. Also, price depends on what all you went in it.

You might have to wait a while for it, but Dr Diff has 3.23 gears for a Dana 60, and I don't know anyone else has.
Anything over $2000, and I wouldn't consider anything but a Dana.
I doubt I would pay over a grand for ANY 8 3/4.

Thank you. And yes, I should have mentioned I was also considering the Dana. I'm just looking for a good rearend that can take the power, but not cost me more than I paid for the car!

Search, find, buy and restore. Housing c/w axles cost me $675 and the 3.23 Sure Grip cost me $600. All the parts from Dr Diff to clean up and put brakes on it another $300 or so.

You should be able to put together an 8-3/4 on the cheap. If you can't find a 71-72 B axle, there are some C-body axles that are not exact dimensions of the 71-72 B, but will bolt in without modification.

E body is close, will work and is a LOT cheaper than 71-74 B

...but there have been 2 71-74 B 8 3/4 for sale on this board in the past 4 months.
